Plot Summary

In the vibrant city of Mumbai, Vikram (actor name), a talented young actor from Delhi, sets his sights on stardom in the world of Bollywood films. Seeking guidance and camaraderie, he turns to Abhimanyu, an old friend and fellow actor, who introduces him to Sona, a charming young actress with a knack for supporting roles. As Vikram and Sona’s romance blossoms, they find themselves swept up in a whirlwind of passion and excitement. In a moment of whimsy, Vikram convinces Sona to enter a lucky draw contest sponsored by Godrej, hoping to win a new refrigerator to replace her broken one.

Meanwhile, Sona finds herself entangled in a web of promises and broken dreams. Small-time producer Satish strings her along with false hopes of bigger roles, only to dash her expectations when he secures funding for a new project and refuses to cast her as the second lead. Heartbroken but resilient, Sona composes herself long enough to slip away unnoticed, leaving behind a tantalizing glimpse into Vikram’s world – a photoshoot that will change everything.

Satish’s wife becomes enamored with the snapshots, forwarding them to Romy Rolly’s team, one of Bollywood’s most influential producers. When Zafar Khan unexpectedly drops out of an upcoming film, Romy is left scrambling for a fresh face. Vikram receives an invitation to audition alongside dozens of other young hopefuls, and at a prestigious film industry party, he crosses paths with the legendary Neena, whose daughter Nikki has already been cast in Romy’s project.

Vikram’s grand flattery of Neena pays dividends, earning him her favor and ultimately securing his spot as the lead actor. As he basks in the glow of success, Vikram and Sona celebrate their good fortune. However, the arrival of Nikki on the set sets off a chain reaction of secret trysts, hidden romances, and unrequited passions. When Sona drops by the hotel where the cast is staying to surprise Vikram, she’s met with an icy reception that confirms her worst fears: Vikram has fallen for Nikki.

As Neena becomes increasingly suspicious, she calls a stern meeting with her daughter and Vikram, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the illusion of being “eligible singles” for the sake of the film’s success. In this treacherous landscape of broken promises, hidden agendas, and fleeting passions, Vikram must navigate the complexities of his newfound fame and the tangled web of relationships that threatens to consume him.

As production wraps up, the whispers of Vikram’s dalliance with Sona (and two other women) become public knowledge, courtesy of Tanveer, a tabloid journalist and friend of Sona’s. The exposé paints Vikram as a master manipulator who successfully charmed three women - Neena, Nikki, and Sona - before his star rose to fame. This development sparks a heated confrontation between Vikram and Nikki, culminating in their breakup.

Meanwhile, Sona becomes withdrawn, holing up at home, where Vikram eventually tracks her down on the rooftop, accusing her of fueling the scandalous article. In a fit of rage, she storms into Tanveer’s tabloid office to berate him, only to return and discover that she’s won a contest courtesy of Vikram - a shiny new refrigerator.

As Vikram’s film, “Romy Rolly,” hits theaters and becomes a box office smash, he finds himself catapulted to stardom. He splurges on a luxurious new home and cultivates new connections within the industry.

At a lavish party, Vikram has the opportunity to meet his idol, Shah Rukh Khan, who takes him to task for keeping his friends waiting. Shah Rukh imparts valuable advice: don’t forget those who stood by you before your fame. Heeding this wisdom, Vikram makes amends with Sona, apologizing for his infidelity and expressing remorse. However, Sona has had a front-row seat to Vikram’s true nature and politely terminates their relationship.

As she drives away from the encounter, Sona reflects on her life, content in the knowledge that she leads a comfortable, independent existence, despite never achieving major stardom herself.

In a separate development, Nikki struggles to come to terms with Vikram’s behavior. Neena, however, sees an opportunity in their tumultuous relationship and urges Nikki to leverage their publicity to further her own career. In passing, Neena shares her own experiences as a woman navigating the challenges of becoming a respected star in the industry.
