The dawn of the nuclear age brought with it a new era of international tension, marked by the devastating atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As the world grappled with the implications of this new threat, two nations in particular - India and Pakistan - found themselves locked in a bitter struggle for dominance. Pakistan, having suffered three consecutive defeats at the hands of their Indian counterparts, were determined to level the playing field by developing their own nuclear capabilities.

In the midst of this heightened state of tension, Amandeep Singh (Sidharth Malhotra), a seasoned RAW operative, was dispatched deep undercover into Pakistan under the guise of Tariq, a humble tailor plying his trade in Rawalpindi. It was there that he crossed paths with Nasreen Hussain (Rashmika Mandanna), a blind young woman whose life was forever changed by her chance encounter with Amandeep. As their relationship blossomed, so too did the complexities of their situation - for while Amandeep's love for Nasreen brought them closer together, it also created a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty that would ultimately threaten to upend their lives.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's nuclear ambitions were gathering momentum under the guidance of Abdul Qadeer Khan (Mir Sarwar), a brilliant nuclear scientist tasked with spearheading the country's weapons development program. With the blessing of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (Rajit Kapur) and the financial backing of Colonel Gadaffi, Pakistan's project - codenamed 706 - was poised to make rapid progress.

As Nasreen's pregnancy became a reality in 1977, so too did the stakes for Amandeep and his handlers. The RAW Chief, R.N. Kao (Parmeet Sethi), brought Indira Gandhi (Avantika Akerkar) up to speed on the situation, tasking Amandeep with "Mission Majnu" - a high-stakes operation designed to uncover the location of Pakistan's nuclear facility and put an end to their nefarious plans. But as Amandeep embarked on this perilous mission, he was forced to confront the demons of his own past - specifically the revelation that his father, Ajitpal, had been a traitor to the nation, caught selling secrets to Pakistan.

As Amandeep navigates the treacherous landscape of espionage, he crosses paths with two other RAW agents stationed in Pakistan - Aslam Usmaniya (Sharib Hashmi) and Raman Singh (Kumud Mishra). Through a series of calculated maneuvers, Amandeep manages to gather intel that reveals Pakistan's clandestine efforts to develop nuclear weapons. Seizing an opportunity presented by his shop owner's contract with an army brigadier, Amandeep gains entry to the officer's home under the guise of delivering uniforms. With the Brigadier none the wiser, Amandeep engages him in casual conversation about India's own nuclear capabilities, expertly fixing two broken buttons on the spot as they chat. The Brigadier unwittingly confirms that Pakistan is indeed developing a bomb with outside expertise, with the site located mere miles from Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, back in India, the newly formed government under Prime Minister Morarji Desai (Avijit Dutt) prioritizes diplomacy and peaceful means over warfare, leading to Kao's resignation as he secretly continues his operation in Pakistan. Amandeep's mission takes a hit, but he presses on undeterred. General Muhammad Zia-Ul-Haq (Ashwath Bhatt), having seized power through a military coup, adopts a duplicitous stance towards India, feigning friendship while plotting attacks on Kashmir to keep the Indians distracted and focused on internal matters.

As Amandeep's personal life becomes increasingly complicated, his father-in-law's suspicions about his supposed infidelity reach a boiling point. Witnessed by Aslam, the father-in-law confronts Amandeep, prompting Sharma to instruct Aslam to take out the operative. However, Aslam defies orders and eliminates the father-in-law instead, earning a severe beating from Amandeep. Raman later intervenes, revealing that Aslam had inadvertently saved Amandeep's life.

Zia continues to maintain his charade of friendship with India even as he secretly orchestrates attacks on Kashmir, aiming to keep the Indians preoccupied while Pakistan hastens its nuclear development. Meanwhile, Israel prepares to launch a strike against the Quetta military facility, mistakenly believing it to be a nuclear weapons site. With Libya's backing of Pakistan in exchange for a functioning bomb, Israel sees the potential for catastrophic consequences if Pakistan succeeds - and so, they seek to destroy the site to protect themselves from any future attacks.

As Amandeep's relentless pursuit of truth leads him to the secretive nuclear facility at Kahuta, he uncovers a critical thread that ultimately unravels the entire web of deceit. By intercepting an order for 400 special jackets bound for Kahuta, he discovers the location and sets his sights on gathering tangible evidence. However, his efforts are stymied by the site's formidable security measures, leaving him with no choice but to rely on more unconventional methods.

Sharma's timely warning of Israel's impending attack on Quetta serves as a catalyst for Amandeep's next move. He returns to Kahuta and, under the guise of a barber shop visit, surreptitiously collects hairs from army personnel working at the facility. These seemingly innocuous strands are then dispatched to India, where they yield crucial evidence of radioactive contamination, pointing to the presence of plutonium in Kahuta under Pakistan's administration. The threat of an Israeli strike is successfully averted.

The revelation reaches Indian Prime Minister Morarji, who, while aware of the gravity of the situation, refuses to authorize a bombing raid, opting instead for diplomacy and deterrence. With this new evidence, India's Prime Minister weighs in on Pakistan's reliability, prompting Zia to take drastic measures by shutting down the Kahuta facility.

In the aftermath, Pakistani intelligence agents track down and eliminate Amandeep's fellow covert operatives Aslam and Raman, who had been working tirelessly behind enemy lines. Amandeep himself becomes aware of the danger closing in around him as he attempts to escape Pakistan with his pregnant wife. He manages to distract the pursuing ISI agents long enough for his wife to board a flight, departing unimpeded, but ultimately loses his own life in the process.

Meanwhile, Kao encounters Nasreen at Dubai Airport and discovers a poignant letter from her late husband, revealing Amandeep's true identity and the extraordinary sacrifices he made for the sake of national security.
