As Tim cunningly plots to discreetly film Martin and his extraordinary attire, known as Zoot, he hopes to redeem his tarnished reputation with tangible evidence for his television station. Initially, his motivations stem from a desire to impress and regain his standing, but as he delves further into the adventure, he grows genuinely fond of Martin, ultimately opting against exposing the compromising footage. Meanwhile, Martin’s remarkable talents lead to the discovery of the Interstellar Safety System, a part of the ship programmed to self-destruct.

Unbeknownst to Tim, his covert recordings draw unwanted scrutiny when Brace uncovers the footage and makes off with it. Following a surprise visit to Tim’s home, Lizzie stumbles upon an unexpected scene: Brace frantically searching for proof of Tim’s alleged infidelity. Convinced Tim has betrayed her, a heartbroken Lizzie leaves in turmoil, only to be sidetracked by the sudden emergence of the spaceship and its towering presence. Curious, Zoot invites Lizzie aboard the cockpit, pulling her into their extraordinary adventure.

As Tim and Martin strive to retrieve the pilfered evidence, they shrink the ship—along with Zoot and Lizzie—and embark on an adrenaline-fueled pursuit through the city streets. This escapade leads to an impromptu confession from Tim. Once he is forgiven by Martin, they devise a clever scheme to outwit their pursuers and make a daring escape. In a bold broadcast, Martin assumes Brace’s identity, nearly revealing his alien form under the scrutinizing gaze of Elliott Coleye (Christopher Lloyd), the head of SETI.

Their escape plan guides them through the sewer system in Tim’s now miniaturized car, yet their ruse is short-lived as they are captured by Coleye, who sees them as an opportunity to unlock cosmic mysteries. At the SETI lab, Tim contrives a clever plot to trick one of the scientists into enlarging Martin’s spacecraft, unwittingly breaking security protocols and enabling Lizzie and Zoot’s daring getaway. However, their brief taste of freedom is punctuated by the appearance of two security guards, one of whom injures Zoot during the chaos.

In a desperate act for liberation, Lizzie transforms into a monstrous creature from the depths of “Veenox 7,” thanks to a black spiked nerplex. She ruthlessly neutralizes the guards before spitting out the nerplex and reverting to her human form, triumphant in her escape.

In a twist of fate, the trio finally locates Martin, whose condition has drastically altered after a taxing surgery that left him suspended in animation. Upon reuniting with Zoot, Martin’s seemingly lifeless body jolts back to life, as if awakened by an invisible force, and together they execute a daring escape from the grasp of SETI headquarters. Tim and Lizzie prepare to send their friend off, replacing the damaged electron accelerator of the ship with a makeshift car alternator. Just as they are about to say goodbye, Coleye appears, intent on proving the existence of extraterrestrials at any cost, even if it means sacrificing Martin. Fortuitously, a SETI official, revealed to be none other than Martin’s old ally Neenert, intervenes, disarming Coleye and propelling him into the air, thus saving Martin from doom.

As the story culminates in an emotional reunion, Martin and Neenert soar into the skies once more, bound for Mars in their trusty spacecraft, much to the chagrin of the thwarted Coleye. In a surreal turn of events, Coleye stumbles upon a leftover piece of nerplex discarded by Neenert. Ignoring the warnings from Tim and Lizzie, his obsession with proving his theories overcomes him, leading him to chew the gum and inadvertently transform into a Martian. His excitement is fleeting, as he accidentally swallows the gum, likely ensuring his new form becomes permanent. The scene concludes with Coleye being apprehended and tranquilized by his organization, while Tim and Lizzie successfully slip away.

As the final act unfolds, Martin and Zoot choose to return to Earth, embarking on a new life alongside Tim and Lizzie.
