Check out what happened in New Year's Evil!

As the clock struck midnight on New Year's Eve, popular DJ Diane Sullivan (aka "Blaze") was hosting a high-energy countdown celebration from a Hollywood hotel, simulcasting live on local radio and captivating a nation. But just as things were reaching a fever pitch, an unsettling phone call from someone claiming to be Evil shook her to the core. With his ominous tone and sinister intent, he announced his plan to off one "naughty girl" in each US time zone, culminating with Diane herself being the last victim at the stroke of midnight Pacific Time. Meanwhile, Diane's own son Derek dropped by the studio, but was largely ignored by his mother as she worked her magic on air. Little did anyone know, however, that Derek would soon become a focal point of chaos and mayhem throughout the night.

As the party raged on at the hotel, the studio crew sprang into action, boosting security measures to ensure a safe countdown. But despite their efforts, a series of gruesome murders began to unfold across Los Angeles, leaving a trail of bodies in its wake. The first victim was a nurse found dead at a sanitarium mere moments after midnight struck in the Eastern Time Zone; followed by two women discovered near a liquor store after midnight in the Central Time Zone. What's more, the killer had an unnerving habit of recording his crimes using a radio/cassette recorder, then calling the station to replay the tapes and taunt Diane with each new murder. As the clock ticked closer to midnight in the Mountain Time Zone, the killer's search for a next victim became increasingly frantic – little did he know, however, that his actions would soon incur the wrath of a gang of bikers, leading him on a wild goose chase through a drive-in theater. After murdering one of the bikers and making off with a couple's car, the killer had his eyes set on a new target – but an unsuspecting girl managed to escape from the backseat just in time, leaving Evil scrambling for a next victim.

As the hotel becomes increasingly besieged by law enforcement, Richard, cunningly disguised behind his former persona, manages to infiltrate the premises undetected. This mastermind, once thought too preoccupied to attend the festivities, reveals himself as Diane's husband, fueled by a deep-seated resentment towards her and the other women in his life who he perceives as slighting his character. With a wicked glint in his eye, Richard exacts a twisted revenge upon his unsuspecting wife, rendering her unconscious before unleashing a tirade of vitriolic scorn.

As he revels in his cruel handiwork, Richard's malevolent intentions are laid bare: he has hacked into the elevator system, intending to chain Diane to the machinery and subject her to a gruesome, slow-motion descent. The police, however, are hot on his heels, alerted to his presence by some unknown means. A tense standoff ensues, punctuated by the sound of gunfire, which ultimately damages the elevator controls, arresting its downward trajectory and saving Diane from certain doom.

With his plan foiled, Richard retreats to the rooftop, donning the mask that had previously allowed him to move undetected through the hotel's corridors. Cornered by the authorities, he is forced to confront the consequences of his actions, ultimately choosing a ghastly descent into oblivion as the only viable escape route.

As the police tend to Diane's injuries, Derek (played by [actor name]) is revealed to be at the helm of the ambulance that has been dispatched to whisk her away to safety. Having claimed his father's mask and brutally murdered the real driver, this erstwhile innocent bystander now finds himself complicit in a sinister plot, as the ambulance disappears into the night, leaving Diane's fate hanging precariously in the balance.

In the midst of this chaos, a radio announcer in Honolulu can be heard heralding the arrival of midnight in the Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone, a seemingly innocuous event that serves only to underscore the dark and foreboding atmosphere that now pervades the hotel.
