Who plays the role of Patrizio 'Pat' Solitano Jr.?

Plot Summary

As Patrizio “Pat” Solitano Jr. (played by) steps out of the mental health facility after eight arduous months, he’s met with the warmth of his childhood home in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania, where his parents, Patrizio Sr. and Dolores, eagerly await his return. The primary focus of this newly minted individual is on reconciliation - specifically, patching things up with his estranged wife, Nikki. However, the path to redemption is paved with thorns, as Pat’s violent outbursts in the past have left him grappling with the possibility of being sent back to the clinic if he doesn’t keep taking his medication.

Meanwhile, Pat’s therapist, Cliff Patel, tries to guide him towards a healthier outlook by emphasizing the importance of maintaining his medication regimen. Pat, however, has undergone a transformation - he’s now driven by an insatiable desire to see the silver linings in every experience. This newfound optimism is put to the test as Pat navigates a series of anxiety-inducing attacks that threaten to undermine his progress.

Pat’s social life gets a much-needed boost when he attends dinner at his best friend Ronnie’s house, where they’re joined by Ronnie’s sister-in-law, Tiffany Maxwell - a widow with an unnamed psychological disorder. Over a sumptuous feast, Pat and Tiffany strike up a conversation about the various psychiatric medications they’ve taken to cope with their mental health struggles. Tiffany, in a bold move, attempts to proposition Pat, but he remains fixated on winning back Nikki’s affections.

In an effort to prove his commitment to personal growth, Pat agrees to partner with Tiffany for an upcoming dance competition - a chance to demonstrate to Nikki that he’s evolved and developed a newfound sensitivity towards others. As they begin rehearsing over the following weeks, Pat’s enthusiasm knows no bounds.

Patrizio Sr., meanwhile, has turned to illicit bookmaking as a means of financing his dream of opening a restaurant. His latest bet on the Philadelphia Eagles game has left him teetering on the brink of financial ruin, prompting him to plead with Pat to accompany him for good luck - an irrational request that Pat humorously attributes to OCD ideation. As Pat asks Tiffany for time off from practice to attend the game, she responds with a typed message from Nikki - a cautiously optimistic note that hints at the possibility of reconciliation.

Before entering the stadium, Pat and his brother Jake get into a heated altercation with racist fans and are subsequently arrested. The Eagles’ crushing defeat only adds insult to injury, leaving Patrizio Sr. seething with rage. As Pat navigates this tumultuous landscape, he’s forced to confront the harsh realities of his past, present, and future - all while clinging to the hope that Nikki will ultimately return to him.

As the tension between Patrizio and Tiffany reaches a boiling point, she skillfully deflects his accusations by highlighting the Eagles’ remarkable winning streak whenever they were together. This newfound revelation prompts Patrizio to make a bold wager with Randy: if the Eagles emerge victorious in their week 16 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys and Tiffany and Pat impress the judges with an average score of at least five out of ten, he will recoup double the amount he lost on his initial bet.

Despite initial reservations, Pat is eventually swayed by the combined efforts of Tiffany, Dolores, and Patrizio to participate in the dance competition. The trio convinces him that Nikki’s presence is a certainty, fueled by Tiffany’s fabricated letter that bears striking similarities to her own cryptic phrases. As the night of the football game and dance competition unfolds, Tiffany’s friends and family arrive at the venue, unaware that their carefully crafted plan has been compromised.

Meanwhile, Ronnie and his wife Veronica have orchestrated an unexpected twist: they’ve invited Nikki to the event in a last-ditch effort to lift her restraining order on Pat, hoping to revive their troubled relationship. As tensions simmer beneath the surface, Tiffany’s anxieties reach a fever pitch when she spots Nikki in the audience. In a desperate attempt to drown her sorrows, she becomes increasingly inebriated at the bar.

Just as it seems like all hope is lost, Pat intervenes, whisking Tiffany away from the brink of despair and onto the dance floor mere moments before their scheduled performance. The couple’s routine unfolds amidst the euphoria of the Eagles’ victory, culminating in an average score of 5.0 points that leaves both friends and strangers alike perplexed.

As the dust settles, Pat takes a moment to confront Nikki, whispering his secrets into her ear. The gravity of this revelation sends Tiffany reeling, prompting her to make a hasty exit. In a heart-to-heart with Pat Sr., Pat is reminded that true love requires acceptance and patience, and that Tiffany’s devotion is unlike anything he’s experienced before.

With the weight of his emotions finally acknowledged, Pat seizes the opportunity to confess his true feelings to Tiffany, revealing his realization that he fell deeply in love with her from the moment they reconnected. As the couple shares a tender kiss, the curtain closes on their tumultuous past and the promise of a brighter future together.
