Snoopy Come Home

As fate would have it, Snoopy receives an unexpected missive from Lila, a young girl confined to a hospital bed for three long weeks, her days filled with the monotony of illness and isolation. Her plea for companionship strikes a chord deep within the canine's heart, prompting him to embark on an adventure with his trusty sidekick Woodstock, leaving Charlie Brown blissfully unaware of the identity of this mysterious Lila.

As it transpires, Lila is none other than Snoopy's original owner, a revelation that sends Linus scurrying to uncover the truth. The news sends shockwaves through the Peanuts gang, with Charlie Brown reeling in stunned silence as he struggles to comprehend the depth of Snoopy's attachment to this long-lost companion.

Undeterred by the numerous "No Dogs Allowed" signs dotting their route, Snoopy and Woodstock face a series of misadventures, from a whirlwind romance with an animal-obsessed youngster named Clara, whose mother reluctantly consents to her keeping Snoopy as her own pet, to a camping expedition where they while away the hours playing football, making music, and cooking up a storm.

Finally, after navigating this gauntlet of bureaucratic obstacles, the intrepid duo arrives at Lila's hospital bedside, only to discover that dogs are once again barred from the premises. Snoopy's initial attempt to sneak into Lila's room is foiled, but his second effort proves successful, allowing him to keep her company and bring a smile back to her face.

As their visit comes to a close, Lila implores Snoopy to remain by her side, but he hesitates, torn between his loyalty to Charlie Brown and his growing bond with this long-lost friend. In the end, he decides to return home, but not before Lila's tears of sadness pierce his heart, prompting him to make a U-turn and reunite with her in a heartfelt farewell.

As Snoopy prepares to bid adieu, he pens a poignant letter, dispersing his worldly possessions among his friends: Linus inherits the croquet set and chess pieces, while Schroeder receives the coveted record collection. Charlie Brown, however, is left with little more than a warm wish from his departing companion.

The Peanuts gang gathers to bid Snoopy farewell, showering him with gifts in the form of bones, which they present with tear-stained faces. As each of them takes their turn to eulogize this beloved friend, Charlie Brown's emotions overwhelm him, reducing him to silence as he presents his own gift. In the aftermath of Snoopy's departure, Charlie Brown finds himself unable to sleep or eat, his appetite and rest both sapped by the lingering ache of loss.

As Snoopy makes his way back to his beloved residence, he's met with an unexpected yet delightful obstacle: a "No dogs allowed" sign boldly displayed next to the entrance of Lila's apartment building. The beagle's eyes light up with glee as he realizes this provides him with the perfect alibi to rejoin his dear friend Charlie Brown. Upon arriving at the scene, Snoopy is introduced to Lila's feline companion, a dignified cat who seems almost amused by the canine's enthusiasm. Snoopy, however, remains undeterred and proudly displays the sign, leaving Lila with little choice but to grant him permission to depart. With a spring in his step, Snoopy joyfully makes his way back to Charlie Brown, eager to rekindle their bond.

Upon returning home, the children are overjoyed to see Snoopy's beaming face and eagerly lift him onto a pedestal, where he's carefully carried into his doghouse. As soon as he's settled in, Snoopy seizes his trusty typewriter and begins to dictate terms to the gang, demanding that they return the various items he'd previously entrusted to their care. The kids, however, grow increasingly annoyed by this sudden reversal of fortune and, with a collective sigh, decide to abandon Charlie Brown and Snoopy, leaving them both feeling forlorn and forsaken.
