Space Chimps Quiz: Test your knowledge on the animated adventure of Space Chimps and their daring mission to save Malgor.

What is the name of NASA's space probe that ends up on the planet Malgor?

Plot Summary

In a dramatic shift of cosmic fate, NASA’s cutting-edge space probe, Infinity, finds itself hurtling through an intergalactic wormhole and crash-landing on the distant planet of Malgor, home to a vibrant array of alien beings. The planet’s malevolent inhabitant, Zartog (Jeff Daniels), unwittingly seizes control of Infinity’s onboard machinery, using it to enslave the population. Confronted with the prospect of losing contact with the probe and their budget, NASA scientists turn to an unlikely team of astronauts: three intelligent chimpanzees - technical genius Comet (Zack Shada), lieutenant Luna (Cheryl Hines) and commander Titan (Patrick Warburton). To garner media attention, Senator (Stanley Tucci) adds Ham III (Andy Samberg), the grandson of Ham, the first primate in space, to the mission. Initially disinterested in the endeavor, Ham III is launched into space alongside Titan and Luna.

As they navigate the treacherous wormhole, Titan and Luna succumb to its crushing pressure, leaving Ham to pilot the ship and land it safely. Unfortunately, their vessel falls prey to Zartog’s henchmen, who capture Titan and the probe. Meanwhile, Ham and Luna embark on a perilous journey to Zartog’s palace, guided by the enigmatic alien Kilowatt (Kristin Chenoweth). Their quest takes them through lush valleys filled with the planet’s peculiar sustenance, where they encounter globhoppers, and later, the foreboding cave of the Flesh-Devouring Beast. In a selfless act, Kilowatt volunteers to distract the beast, sacrificing herself in the process.

As Ham, Luna, and Titan converge at the palace, they discover Zartog’s sinister intentions: torturing Malgor’s inhabitants who are being frozen in a pool of frznar, a chilling substance. Moved by Kilowatt’s sacrifice and their newfound understanding of the planet’s plight, the three chimpanzees abandon their mission, opting to confront Zartog and put an end to his reign of terror. With the ship returning home on autopilot, Ham, Luna, and Titan must rely on their ingenuity and bravery to outwit Zartog and free the people of Malgor from his grasp.

As chaos erupts among the chimpanzees, Zartog (character) unleashes his probe, threatening to encase them all in an icy tomb. However, Titan’s cunning intervention hijacks the device, propelling Zartog into a pool of frigid freznar and imprisoning him in its frozen grasp. Meanwhile, Kilowatt, miraculously revived, frees the primates from their predicament. With Ham’s ingenious guidance and the aid of Malgor’s inhabitants, the chimps set about constructing a makeshift vessel from the probe’s components, utilizing Zartog as the ship’s nose cone to navigate through a volcanic eruption.

As they prepare to re-enter the wormhole, Titan entrusts the controls to Ham, whose trepidation is momentarily assuaged by a vision of his grandfather. Comet advises Ham to adjust the ship’s entry angle, and the vessel begins to spin out of control, only for Luna to intervene just in time. However, the mechanical arms soon malfunction, causing the Zartog nosecone to detach and inflict damage on one of the ship’s fins while Comet and Houston scramble to prepare a HEMTT for the ship’s impending arrival.

Luna takes it upon herself to repair the damaged mechanism, allowing Ham to regain control just as the ship passes a media conference. Although he loses his grip and is presumed killed, Ham manages to safely land the vessel on the HEMTT. Upon exiting, he discovers Luna merely knocked unconscious, her fate a stark contrast to the tragic loss of Ham’s life.

As Houston, Comet, and Titan converge upon the scene, the press and scientific community are drawn in by the commotion. Under mounting pressure, the Senator decides to dramatically increase funding for the space program, sparking jubilation among the scientists.

In a post-credits epilogue, Zartog is revealed to have crash-landed in front of a suburban residence, his frozen form helpless as a curious Dachshund proceeds to urinate on him, a fittingly ignominious conclusion to his ill-fated adventure.
