The American Astronaut Quiz: Test your knowledge on the quirky and adventurous space odyssey of Samuel Curtis in 'The American Astronaut'.

What unusual package does Samuel Curtis deliver at the beginning of the film?

Plot Summary

In a galaxy where space travel has devolved into a lawless free-for-all, Samuel Curtis (Cory McAbee) - a rugged astronaut with a penchant for rare goods and a shady past - finds himself entangled in a complex web of intrigue. His odyssey begins with the delivery of an unexpected package: a cat, which he hands over to a dusty asteroid saloon where he reunites with his old flame, the infamous Blueberry Pirate (Joshua Taylor), a charismatic fruit thief with a reputation that precedes him.

As payment for his feline cargo, Curtis receives a revolutionary cloning device that’s already spawned a rare and precious commodity: a genuine, flesh-and-blood female - a phenomenon unheard of in this part of the galaxy. The Blueberry Pirate proposes a bold trade: exchange the Real Live Girl with Jupiter’s enigmatic ruler, the Boy Who Actually Saw A Woman’s Breast (Gregory Russell Cook), a legendary figure revered on Jupiter’s all-male mining planet for his singular encounter with femininity.

Curtis’ plan is to take the Boy to Venus, where he’ll be traded for the remains of Johnny R., a man who spent his life serving as a stud for the Southern belles of Venus - a planet inhabited only by women. In exchange, Curtis will receive a handsome reward that will bring him closer to his ultimate goal: returning Johnny’s body to his grieving family on Earth.

Meanwhile, Curtis’ nemesis, Professor Hess (Rocco Sisto), has been tracking him across the solar system with an unnerving intensity. Motivated by an enigmatic fixation on Curtis, Hess is a ruthless killer driven solely by his desire for forgiveness and retribution - a quest that’s consumed him since he began hunting down anyone who crossed paths with Samuel Curtis. Along the way, Hess has systematically eliminated every individual who dared to get in his way, leaving a trail of destruction and terror in his wake.

As Curtis embarks on his perilous quest, oblivious to the treacherous path ahead, he completes his mission to retrieve The Boy Who Actually Saw A Woman’s Breast from Jupiter. However, this momentary triumph is short-lived, as Professor Hess makes his intentions clear, casting a shadow of uncertainty over Curtis’ future. Faced with an imminent threat, Curtis and The Boy (actor not provided) seek refuge in the vast expanse of space, eventually stumbling upon a makeshift space station constructed by Nevada State silver miners from the late 19th century.

The station is home to a small group of miners who have been ravaged by the unforgiving effects of space atrophy. These survivors, unable to return to Earth due to the planet’s crushing gravity, had resorted to desperate measures to sustain life. One such miner, Body Suit (James Ransone), was born on this forsaken outpost, his body adapted to simulate the gravitational forces of his ancestral home through a suit of hydraulic systems.

Moved by the miners’ plight and driven by a sense of obligation, Curtis agrees to deliver Body Suit back to Earth in exchange for supplies and shelter. The journey takes an unexpected turn as they land on the lush planet of Venus, where the terrain undergoes a dramatic transformation. Inspired by this new landscape, Curtis conceives a plan that will forever alter the course of his mission.
