What instrument does Athanael play?

Plot Summary

As the sweet melodies of Paradise Coffee’s sponsored radio show wafted through the airwaves, Athanael (Jack Benny), the third trumpet player in the orchestra, succumbed to the soothing sounds and drifted off into a dream world. In this celestial realm, he envisioned himself as an angelic trumpeter in the heavenly orchestra, serenading the divine with his instrument of choice. His sweetest dreams were further sweetened by the praise of his lovely girlfriend Elizabeth (Alexis Smith), who worked for the department of small planet management, and it was she who bestowed upon him a sacred mission from above. Tasked with destroying planet 339001 (Earth) and its pesky inhabitants, Athanael’s trumpet playing took on an apocalyptic significance as he prepared to sound the “Last Trumpet” at exactly midnight, signaling the end of the world.

But fate had other plans. Upon his descent into the mortal realm via the elevator of Hotel Universe, Athanael inadvertently foiled a daring robbery attempt by suave guest Archie Dexter (Reginald Gardiner) and his sultry accomplice Fran Blackstone (Dolores Moran). In the aftermath, Dexter broke off their relationship, blaming Fran for their misadventure. Meanwhile, Elizabeth’s attempts to persuade her boss to give Athanael a second chance at fulfilling his celestial mission proved fruitful.

As complications arose in the form of two fallen angels, Osidro (Allyn Joslyn) and Doremus (John Alexander), who recognized Athanael and sought to derail his assignment, the angel found himself struggling to maintain control over his trumpet in this strange new world. These mischievous devils conspired with Dexter to steal the instrument, leveraging Fran’s gratitude for her earlier rescue by Athanael to further their nefarious plan.

As the stakes grew higher, Elizabeth and her boss joined forces to track down the thieves, leading them on a thrilling chase through the Hotel Universe. In the heat of the pursuit, Athanael found himself tumbling from the roof, only to awaken from his dream with the sweet melody of reality lingering in his mind.
