As the disturbing tales of murder associated with Reese Wilson continue to haunt her, Amy Mayfield, a dedicated student at the esteemed film school, finds a spark of inspiration for her thesis project. She decides to craft a chilling narrative about a serial killer who preys on victims in a manner reminiscent of eerie urban legends. At the same time, Lisa, another up-and-coming filmmaker, enjoys a carefree evening with classmate Travis Stark at a local bar before catching a flight. However, as the night progresses, Lisa’s reality begins to blur, leading to a horrifying assault. She awakens in a nightmare, her kidney brutally removed and submerged in an ice-filled tub, with her life slipping through her fingers.

The following day, Amy eagerly prepares to bring her dark vision to fruition, but her plans take a sudden turn when Toby Belcher, the designated cameraman, unexpectedly quits, accusing her of stealing his thesis idea. In her desperate attempt to clear her name and save her project, Sandra Petruzzi, a friend and actress involved in her film, returns to the studio… only to be viciously murdered, leaving behind a gruesome scene that sends shockwaves across the campus. The horrifying footage of Sandra’s demise is shockingly incorporated into the film, intensifying Amy’s unease.

Tragedy strikes once more with the shocking news of Travis Stark’s apparent suicide from the campus tower, adding yet another layer of grief to an already troubled environment. During his funeral, Graham Manning, a charismatic figure with connections to Hollywood, approaches Amy, offering his assistance in finishing her film. She respectfully declines until he discloses a hidden truth—her father is a renowned documentarian, a secret Amy has kept from most of her classmates, leading her to confront the complexities of her family history.

As the tension escalates and the body count rises, Travis’ identical twin brother, Trevor, arrives, convinced that his brother was murdered. Later, while Amy records unsettling sound loops for her film, a menacing figure in a fencing mask appears, brutally killing replacement cameraman Simon Jabuscko using his own equipment. Unbeknownst to Amy, the horrifying audio is recorded, forcing her to flee for her life across campus from the masked assailant.

Reaching an abandoned carnival ride, she encounters a deafening silence, a stark contrast to the impending chaos. Stan Washington and Dirk Reynolds, two sophomores, meet a gruesome fate of electrocution while preparing the set, their lifeless bodies left in the hauntingly quiet location. Just as Amy discovers this grisly scene, she narrowly escapes the killer’s grasp and hurriedly informs the authorities, who naively chalk up the deaths to tragic accidents—unaware that this is merely the beginning of a macabre game of cat and mouse.

As Amy delves deeper into the dark corners of her campus, she finds comfort in Trevor’s support, yet even their tender moments are disrupted by jarring intrusions that leave her rattled. The boundary between reality and nightmare begins to blur when she wakes, questioning if it was all just a dream… until a mysterious note, allegedly written by her, sends her spiraling into a series of alarming events leading to the bell tower, where she confronts a sinister presence lurking in the shadows.

Desperation builds within Amy as she flees from her tormentor, only to become trapped in a closet filled with the corpses of Simon and Sandra. Her survival hinges on her ability to break free before discovering Vanessa’s lifeless body hanging ominously from the bell. Just in time, Reese arrives, alerted by the campus security system, witnessing Amy’s frantic escape.

As the mystery deepens, Trevor pieces together that all the victims shared a link to Travis’ thesis film. The trio embarks on a quest to unveil the truth, starting with suspecting Toby’s involvement in this dreadful scheme. However, their investigation leads them to Professor Solomon, who has been manipulating events from behind the curtain.

In a shocking twist, it becomes evident that Solomon himself is the killer, utilizing his students as pawns in a dark game to secure the coveted Hitchcock Award, putting Amy directly in his sights. A tense standoff ensues with Reese’s timely arrival, but the situation escalates when Solomon lunges at Amy, granting her the upper hand.

Months later, at the Hitchcock Awards ceremony, Trevor steps up to accept the award on behalf of his late brother. Just as he prepares to celebrate, Reese shoots production assistant Kevin, revealing this entire ordeal was a part of Amy’s new film, Urban Legends. As Solomon resides in a mental institution, watching Amy’s masterpiece unfold, he is wheeled out by a familiar nurse, Brenda Bates, hinting at a deeper connection between their twisted worlds.
