What Ayurvedic remedy is at the center of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se'?
Inheriting the Ayurveda legacy of the revered remedy known as Vajrakavach, the brothers Pooran (Sunny Deol) and Kaala (Bobby Deol) utilize this powerful cure for their own contrasting purposes. Pooran, possessing a kind-hearted nature, is dedicated to leveraging his heritage to aid those in need, while Kaala remains primarily motivated by profit.
Living with the brothers is Parmar (Dharmendra), a former Casanova and renowned lawyer, who ironically pays the same rent of just 125 rupees for the last 35 years. This persistent presence is a constant annoyance for Kaala. Pooran’s loyal assistant, Billa (Binnu Dhillon), aids him in navigating various challenges, including the looming threat from Marfatia and Lawyer Bhatia, both of whom work for a multinational corporation keen on acquiring the secret formula behind the Vajrakavach.
Kaala is always on the lookout for ways to capitalize on the family’s heritage, yet Pooran stands firm against his plans. Tensions arise when Kaala introduces Marfatia to Pooran, leading to an intense altercation when Marfatia insults Pooran.
Legal assistance for Kaala comes from Bedi (Satish Kaushik), who attempts to evict Parmar from their home. However, the charismatic lawyer has garnered the favor of the female judges, complicating the proceedings. A new twist enters the family dynamic with the arrival of Chikoo (Kriti Kharbanda), a charming Gujarati ENT surgeon who manages to capture Kaala’s heart while harboring ulterior motives. Disguised as a student of Ayurveda, her true intent is to pilfer the secret recipe for her own gain, resulting in a series of undercover escapades where she takes photographs of the valuable formula during festive celebrations.
Just as Kaala is about to confess his feelings to Chikoo, she unexpectedly departs. In the weeks that follow, Marfatia successfully patents the recipe, leading to a legal confrontation against Pooran. Desperate for help, Pooran implores Parmar to take on the case. This situation escalates as they find a rental home in the same community as Chikoo, where Kaala soon discovers that she is living nearby. It becomes clear that Chikoo exchanged the formula for her own clinic, further complicating the narrative.
As the case unfolds, with Judge Sunil Parekh (Shatrughan Sinha) presiding, tensions mount as the community learns of Pooran’s Punjabi roots but grows grateful for his remedial effects on their children and elders. Faced with guilt, Chikoo reflects on her actions, and as the stakes rise, Parmar negotiates a settlement, pressuring Pooran to prioritize family over profit. Confronted by his own ethics, Parmar chooses to fight the case instead.
When Marfatia learns of Chikoo’s intent to testify, he resorts to underhanded tactics and has her kidnapped. In an adrenaline-fueled rescue attempt, Pooran confronts a horde of thugs to save her. Ultimately, the courtroom drama culminates in Chikoo’s testimony, leading to a landmark decision in favor of Pooran and restoring balance to their chaotic lives.
