The narrative unfolds around a group of migrants from Northeast India who have settled in Delhi. Among them are Upasana and Chanbi, along with their friend Zorem, as they rally to assist their beloved companion Minam in her wedding preparations. Minam, who resides in a flat with Upasana, Chanbi, and other friends from their region, is unexpectedly summoned for an important interview. While she is away, her friends embark on a quest to source an essential ingredient for ‘Axone,’ a beloved local dish critical for the wedding feast.
As they navigate the challenges of planning the celebration and preparing the special dish, they encounter significant obstacles. The other tenants in their building voice their disapproval, and the landlord’s overbearing mother-in-law firmly upholds her prohibition against parties and any pungent cooking in the flat. To circumvent these issues, they decide to host the wedding at the flat of Chanbi’s boyfriend, Bendang. However, the task of cooking Axone without attracting the attention of the neighborhood proves to be a humorous ordeal fraught with comedic mishaps.
In the midst of this chaos, Shiv, Vinay Pathak, the landlord’s son and a friend of Zorem, lends a helping hand. Unfortunately, complications arise in his personal life when his girlfriend ends their relationship upon seeing him with Upasana, followed by Chanbi. As the wedding hour draws nearer, the atmosphere turns somber as the friends express their worries about disappointing Minam, who has yet to return.
Determined, Zorem proposes to prepare Axone on the landlord’s terrace, managing to secure permission from the landlord despite his mother-in-law’s protests. In a race against time, the friends successfully whip up the Axone right before the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony takes an unexpected turn as Minam initiates a video call with her groom and family, with her sister standing in for her—a detail the friends overlooked. After the celebration, Zorem musters the courage to propose to Upasana, while Chanbi decides to return to her hometown with Bendang. In a reflective moment, Bendang confronts a racially charged incident from his past, leading to personal growth.
In the end, the friends joyfully partake in the Axone they worked so hard to prepare, while Shiv humorously laments his inability to find any mainland Indian cuisine, adding a final touch of light-heartedness to their heartfelt day.
