Sixteen years have gone by since Rakesh Trivedi and his wife Vimmi Saluja Trivedi retired from their life of trickery as the notorious “Bunty Aur Babli,” with their former mentor JCP Dashrath Singh having let them off the hook. Now living a quieter life, Rakesh has taken on the role of a railway ticket collector in Phursatganj, Uttar Pradesh, while Vimmi is focused on raising their grown son, Pappu. However, trouble surfaces when a businessman named Chaddha and his wealthy associates set off on a trip, only to find themselves victims of a con orchestrated by newcomers Kunal Singh and Sonia Rawat, who have adopted the very identity of “Bunty Aur Babli.”
Despite the passage of time, Rakesh and Vimmi find themselves pulled back into the world of deceit when Inspector Jatayu Singh apprehends them under the suspicion that they might be involved in the recent scams. With the original duo now the focus of a renewed police investigation, they are reluctantly drawn into a quest to track down those who are impersonating them, as well as to clear their names.
In a twist of fate, Varanasi’s Mayor Chutvaa Chaubey gets fleeced by Kunal and Sonia while they pose as consultants for leasing Ganga’s waters. The intrepid dupes successfully convince the Mayor of their bogus credentials, leading to a swift cleanup of the river that he later discovers was just another ruse.
Kunal and Sonia, meanwhile, are driven by their ambitions—Sonia wants to create a food app but is struggling to secure financing, as her lack of experience weighs heavily on her prospects. However, after realizing the repercussions of their actions, Rakesh and Vimmi commit to distancing themselves from their former exploits and striving to catch the impostors.
As the plot unfolds, the new “Bunty Aur Babli” pull off an audacious scheme to commandeer wheat from an FCI warehouse, relying on their quick wit to navigate the criminal underbelly. In a comical chase around a Holi fair, the originals and the duplicates engage in a cat-and-mouse game, leading to their eventual confrontation. However, without solid evidence against the younger con artists, Jatayu’s hands are tied, prompting the originals to further their investigation into these enigmatic thieves.
The doubles continue their misadventures, even generously distributing the stolen goods to local villagers, which draws attention and raises suspicions. They plan an intricate operation to launder the stolen money, leading Rakesh and Vimmi onto the trail as they collaborate with their old contacts to outsmart their counterparts.
As the story climaxes in Abu Dhabi, both groups find common ground, realizing that their differences led them to the same corrupt system. In an unexpected turn, the duplicates reveal that beyond their attempts at crime lay a desire to give back, keeping a small portion of their takings while donating the rest to charity. Ultimately, this intricate web of deception ends in a collaboration that sees the originals and the duplicates unite for their next grand con, envisioning a future built not just on trickery, but on a shared vision of making a difference.
