Hocus Pocus 1993

Hocus Pocus transports us back to the year 1693, in a small town where a teenager named Thackery Binx](/actor/omri-katz) discovers that his young sister, Emily, has fallen prey to a menacing witch. Thackery urgently pleads with his friend Elijah to rush back to their village to inform the elders of the imminent danger. Without wasting any time, he sets off into the woods and eventually uncovers the witches’ lair. Inside, he encounters the three evil sisters, the Sandersons, portrayed by the talented trio of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, who are in the midst of concocting a powerful potion in their cauldron. Winifred, the eldest, reveals that the potion can restore their youth when consumed by a child.

Just as the witches are about to administer the potion to Emily, Thackery intervenes, but he is quickly overpowered by Winifred. The sisters proceed to drain Emily’s life force, regaining their youthful appearances, and as punishment for his failure, they cast a curse on Thackery, transforming him into a black cat for eternity. Among them is Max Dennison, a skeptical newcomer from California who doesn’t believe in the legend. He tries to connect with classmate Alison as the Halloween break begins. While biking home, Max encounters local troublemakers Ice and Jay, who mock him before stealing his sneakers. After a frustrating day, he reluctantly agrees to take his little sister, Dani, trick-or-treating.

Their adventure leads them to Alison’s family mansion, where they explore its storied history with the Sanderson sisters, and the three decide to break into the deserted museum that was once their home. Amid their exploration, Max foolishly lights the black flame candle to impress Alison, unwittingly awakening the Sandersons once more. The sisters return home, confused yet eager to reclaim their former lives, and Dani reveals herself as the candle’s igniter. To shield his sister, Max collaborates with Alison to confront the witches.
