As the night deepens within Pittsburgh’s shadowy underbelly, Marie, a vampire guided by her steadfast moral compass, engages in a unique form of justice by targeting the city’s criminal elements. Her latest quarry is Tony Silva, a mafioso whose life ends dramatically at the end of her shotgun. This brutal act captures the attention of undercover officer Joseph Gennaro, whose investigation into the criminal empire of Salvatore “Sal the Shark” Macelli is abruptly interrupted when he is placed in protective custody by District Attorney Sinclair.
On the following night, Marie sets her eyes on Sal, using her seductive allure to entice him into inviting her to his lavish mansion for a “dinner” that would irrevocably alter their fates. During their meal, Marie’s vampiric instincts are nearly thwarted by the garlic mussels being served, but she quickly regains her composure and asserts her dominance. As she drains Sal’s blood while he lies incapacitated on the ground, the sudden appearance of Lenny, Sal’s limo driver, prompts Marie to make a swift escape.
Meanwhile, Gennaro, still haunted by the crime scene, becomes embroiled in a tense game of cat and mouse with Marie. Following a bloody trail to a nearby church, he confronts his nightmarish adversary, who insists that he drive her to the morgue where Sal’s lifeless body rests. Unbeknownst to Gennaro, Sal has begun to awaken, ready to unleash bloody vengeance on those who transformed him.
As Gennaro seeks to prevent Sal’s violent rampage, he traces Marie to the residence of Manny Bergman, Sal’s lawyer, but is quickly captured by Lenny and Jacko, two ruthless henchmen. However, Marie is not far behind, determined to rescue Gennaro from a brutal fate at Sal’s hands.
With each passing hour, Gennaro and Marie find themselves entangled in a deadly ballet, the stakes rising for the fabric of their city. As dawn approaches and sunlight breaks over the bleak landscape, Marie retreats to a nearby motel, leaving Gennaro to contemplate the complex nature of their relationship and the terrifying unknown that awaits them.
As the moon illuminates the city, Sal ventures to his strip club, where he begins transforming his associates into creatures of the night. Gennaro and Marie embark on a treacherous mission through the underworld, leading them to a seedy establishment where they encounter Finton and Morales, already in pursuit of Sal. However, Sal’s newly minted vampire followers prove too overwhelming, leading to Finton’s gruesome demise. Just in time, Marie and Gennaro arrive to save Morales from a similar fate, skillfully eliminating Sal’s minions with a barrage of gunfire.
Cornering Sal on the streets, he triggers a catastrophic crash between a taxi and a bus, igniting a fire that signals his end. Seizing the moment, Gennaro fires a shot that extinguishes Sal’s vampiric presence forever.
Despite this victory, Marie wrestles with the monstrous change she has undergone, engulfed in despair as she considers surrendering to the sun’s relentless rays, whispering a poignant lament: > “I died a long time ago.” Yet, Gennaro’s unwavering love acts as a spark of hope, urging her away from the abyss of mortality that looms ominously.
Within the sterile confines of a hotel room, Marie’s voice quivers with emotion as she delivers a haunting soliloquy: > “He made me feel alive.” This moment of existential reflection leads her to contemplate bestowing upon Gennaro the very curse that consumes her, binding them both in an eternal dance steeped in darkness and desire.
