As Samidha, affectionately known as Sam, grapples with the complexities of her Indian-American identity, she finds herself caught between the rich tapestry of her cultural heritage and the seductive pull of western society. Her mother, Poorna, emphasizes the importance of adhering to traditional values and respecting their roots, while her father, Inesh, adopts a more lenient attitude towards her cultural assimilation. At school, Sam endeavors to shed her cultural identity in an effort to blend in with her predominantly white peers, forging a tentative romance with Russ while distancing herself from her former best friend Tamira. Now ostracized, Tamira struggles alone, burdened with the heavy toll of her isolation.

As night descends, the veil of secrecy surrounding Tamira is lifted when she confides in Sam about a sinister entity, birthed from their childhood tales, which has taken residence in a strange glass jar. Initially dismissive and frustrated by Tamira’s claims, Sam’s skepticism leads her to smash the jar open, inadvertently releasing a wave of horror upon her friend. With Tamira mysteriously disappearing, Sam is engulfed by guilt and a growing sense of dread, driving her to search through Tamira’s belongings for answers.

In her quest for the truth, Sam stumbles upon a battered notebook with cryptic Sanskrit writings, hinting that Tamira’s disappearance might have more ominous implications than she originally surmised. As the eerie forces around her intensify, Sam begins to reconsider Tamira’s earlier warnings, acknowledging the unsettling possibility that malevolent forces are indeed at work.

Simultaneously, Poorna’s frustration with Sam’s growing neglect of their Indian customs reaches a breaking point when she learns that her daughter has skipped a crucial prayer to socialize with Russ. During an escapade to an abandoned property previously owned by Karan, another Indian student who met a tragic end, they unearth disturbing murals that depict a horrifying creature.

As Tamira’s condition deteriorates, Sam finds herself increasingly disturbed by the strange occurrences that beset her life. With Tamira’s attempts to escape thwarted and her daily experiences plagued by unexplainable terror, it becomes evident that Sam must confront these dark forces directly if there is any hope of rescuing her friend from the clutches of evil.

Embarking on a journey for salvation, Sam consults Poorna, who suggests enticing the Pishach with a lavish feast accompanied by traditional Indian attire. However, as they concoct their plan, tragedy strikes when Joyce is gravely injured by the entity at school.

When Inesh arrives home, she too falls into the Pishach’s path, suffering brutal consequences that leave her battered and reeling. Meanwhile, Poorna falls victim to the entity’s wrath before Sam realizes that Tamira is imprisoned within Karan’s house. Racing against the clock, Sam confronts the malevolent spirit, only to unearth its true, nightmarish form—a visage that would haunt her eternally.
