In the picturesque village of Snow Mountain, a transformative journey is about to unfold as Bodi, a Teenage Tibetan Mastiff, prepares to take over the role of protector from his father, Khampa. Khampa, who previously defeated a pack of cunning grey wolves under the leadership of the villainous Linnux, has maintained the village’s safety with the aid of cleverly disguised sheep. However, Bodi is finding it challenging to master his father’s renowned technique, the powerful Iron Paw, which requires him to tap into his inner fire and passion. Understandably, Khampa has prohibited music in the village, believing it to be a distraction that hindered Bodi’s growth in his youth.
The winds of change blow when a fortuitous mishap during a training session leads to the accidental drop of a package from a plane. Amidst the flurry of scattered contents, Bodi is captivated by the exhilarating sound of rock music and the legendary performance of Angus Scattergood. The allure of music becomes irresistible, prompting Bodi to adapt a traditional dramyin into a Western-style guitar and prioritize strumming over his responsibilities. This rebellion against his father’s wishes results in some tense moments, as Khampa is resolute in his mission to protect their village.
Chaos ensues when Khampa, along with some sheep, inadvertently sets off a false alarm in the village. In a misguided attempt to set Bodi straight, Bodi dons a wolf costume. However, the village elder, Fleetwood Yak, advocates for Bodi, persuading Khampa to allow his son to chase his musical dreams. Consequently, Bodi is provided with a bus ticket to a nearby city, under the stipulation that he must abandon music if he fails to achieve his goals. Yet, at the bus station, Bodi falls victim to the schemes of Riff and Skozz, Linnux’s henchmen, who see an opportunity to kidnap him and seize control of Snow Mountain.
Upon arriving in the city, Bodi is eager to visit Rock and Roll Park, the iconic location that jumpstarted Scattergood’s illustrious career. Aspiring to collaborate with fellow performers like Darma (a grounded fox) and Germur (a quirky goat drummer), Bodi finds his ambitions quickly dashed when an arrogant snow leopard, Trey, outshines him in a guitar contest, leaving Bodi feeling despondent. In a clever manipulation, Trey leverages Bodi’s admiration for Scattergood to persuade him to secure guitar lessons from the feline legend at his lavish mansion.
Upon reaching Scattergood’s lavish home, Bodi is taken aback by the surreal ambiance, where the stylish white Persian cat lounges behind dark sunglasses, battling a creative block, aided only by his robotic butler, Ozzie. Scattergood’s manager, Ian, gives him an ultimatum: create a new song within three days to revive his fading career. However, when Bodi’s goodwill efforts to reach out to Scattergood are dismissed, he takes matters into his own paws by seizing the stage at Rock and Roll Park to earn money to help Scattergood.
Things take a chaotic turn as Riff and Skozz mistakenly kidnap Scattergood instead, leading to a series of comedic misadventures. Once they realize their blunder, they drop Scattergood back at home, only to receive orders from Linnux to go after Bodi again. After this whirlwind of events, Scattergood finds himself with less than a day left to produce a new song. He is then inspired by Bodi’s impromptu performance and invites him into his home, disguising it as a guitar lesson. Together, they create a powerful song titled “Glorious,” but Bodi’s excitement is short-lived as he uncovers Scattergood’s selfishness when the latter takes sole credit for their work.
As the park empties, and only Darma and Germur offer their compassion to Bodi, he becomes prey to Linnux’s henchmen who train him to reveal the location of the faux Mastiff guards. In a bold escape, Bodi cleverly uses a boxing match against Linnux’s minions to free himself. Upon returning to Rock and Roll Park, Bodi faces uncertainty but is determined to continue his musical journey.
Meanwhile, Scattergood grapples with the repercussions of his selfishness and embarks on a mission to locate Bodi and apologize for his previous actions. His conscience is stirred after being confronted by Ozzie about how he exploited Bodi for his gain, prompting him to hurry to Rock and Roll Park. There, he confirms the disheartening news that Bodi has been captured, which serves as a wake-up call. Scattergood sets aside his own artistic ambitions to rescue his protégé.
The duo reunites just outside Linnux’s lair, where Scattergood makes an earnest gesture by gifting Bodi his acoustic guitar, adorned with his signature. With this special gift symbolizing their bond, they head back to Snow Mountain to thwart Linnux’s malicious plans and save their community from his menacing clutches. However, upon arrival, they find that Linnux has already subdued Khampa and the village, ready to wreak havoc.
In an epic showdown, Bodi faces Linnux and his goons, channeling the power of music to rally the villagers, including the wolves, who become enchanted by the captivating energy of “Glorious.” In a magical moment, as Bodi plays Scattergood’s guitar, he uplifts everyone around him with the music resonating hope and redemption.
Following their victorious escapade, Scattergood honors Bodi’s heroism by giving him full credit. Embracing his newfound passion for rock music, Bodi teams up with Darma and Germur, alongside Scattergood, Ozzie, Fleetwood, and even the sheep, to form a band. Together, they electrify the crowd with their performance of “Glorious” at Linnux’s former Fight Palace, capturing the attention of the entire village, including the reformed wolves and Khampa.
In a comedic twist, Trey attempts to crash the celebration, eager to be part of the band, yet he is met with a firm rejection from a bear bouncer at the entrance.
