Born in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela, Édgar Filiberto Ramírez Arellano is a well-known Venezuelan actor. After completing his degree in mass communication at Andrés Bello Catholic University, Ramírez initially considered a career as a diplomat and worked in media. However, his interest in acting was kindled after filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga praised a short film he had produced. This led Ramírez to pursue his acting career, starting with soap operas in Venezuela. Despite not dreaming of pursuing acting in his early years, Ramírez found himself irresistibly drawn towards the performing arts. He gained initial recognition in the successful soap opera 'Cosita rica'. His major motion-picture debut came with the film 'Domino' where he was acclaimed for his performance. He has also starred in diverse roles in several major productions such as 'The Bourne Ultimatum', 'Zero Dark Thirty', and 'Hands of Stone'. In 2018, he received several accolades for his portrayal of Gianni Versace in 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story'. His acting prowess was highlighted once again in 2020, when he appeared in the HBO miniseries 'The Undoing'. In addition to his acting career, Ramírez supports Amnesty International's campaign 'No Dispares' and is part of '5 Senses in Action', an organization aiding children with special needs. Outside of acting, Ramírez is a polyglot, speaking Spanish, English, French, Italian, and German fluently.
