Walter Clarence 'Dub' Taylor Jr. (February 26, 1907 – October 3, 1994) was an American character actor who worked extensively in films and on television from the 1940s into the 1990s. Known for frequent roles in Westerns and comedies, he's also the father of actor and painter Buck Taylor. In his early life, Taylor was born in Richmond, Virginia and earned his lifelong nickname 'Dub' from shortened 'W'. His career started in vaudeville before transitioning to cinema with his film debut in You Can't Take It with You (1938). Over the course of his career, Taylor played numerous roles ranging from a cheerful ex-football captain to a professional horse thief. He also had bit parts in classic films such as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and A Star Is Born(1954). His television career was equally prolific, with appearances on various shows from the 1950s to the 1990s. He notably appeared in series like The Range Rider, The Andy Griffith Show, Little House On The Prairie and Designing Women. Taylor passed away from a heart attack on October 3, 1994, in Los Angeles.
