Gina Alexis Rodriguez, born on July 30, 1984, is an acclaimed American actress. She began her acting journey with theatre productions in 2003 and later made her small screen debut with the police procedural drama series Law & Order. Her breakthrough role came nearly a decade later with the role of a young hip-hop artist Majo Tenorio in the independent musical-drama film Filly Brown, but it was her captivating performance as the leading lady in The CW's satirical romantic dramedy series Jane the Virgin (2014–2019) that earned her a coveted Golden Globe Award in 2015.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Rodriguez is a proud Puerto Rican and has excellently portrayed a myriad of characters in a variety of films like Deepwater Horizon (2016), Ferdinand (2017), Annihilation (2018), Miss Bala (2019), Someone Great (2019), Scoob! (2020), Awake (2021), I Want You Back (2022), and Spy Kids: Armageddon (2023). She has also lent her voice to the titular character of the Netflix animated action-adventure series Carmen Sandiego (2019–21) and had starred and executive produced the Disney+ comedy-drama series Diary of a Future President (2020–21). Besides acting, Rodriguez also owns the production company I Can & I Will Productions, working on projects centered around the Latino community.
