Iko Uwais, known professionally by that name, was born as Uwais Qorny on 12th February 1983. This charismatic Indonesian is notable for his endeavors as an actor, stuntman, fight choreographer, and martial artist. Renowned for his appearances in action films, Uwais has contributed to well-received movies, including Merantau (2009), The Raid (2011), The Raid 2 (2014), Headshot (2016), Mile 22 (2018), The Night Comes for Us (2018), and Stuber (2019). His talent also straddles the small screen, with notable roles including a lead in the Netflix series, Wu Assassins (2019–22).

Uwais was discovered by director Gareth Evans in 2007 who was then making a documentary about silat, a martial art Uwais was practicing. His camera presence seemed fitting for Evans' martial art film, Merantau, leading to his debut. His successful stint includes work in international films like Triple Threat and a brief appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In his personal life, he is married to singer Audy Item and is father to two daughters: Atreya Syahla Putri Uwais and Aneska Layla Putri Uwais.
