Isaiah Washington

Isaiah Washington IV (born August 3, 1963) is a Sierra Leonean-American actor and film producer. Washington kicked-off his professional career in 1991. He has made prominent name for himself through various film appearances but particularly gained fame for his role as Dr. Preston Burke in the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy from 2005 to 2007. His early collaborations with the director, Spike Lee on movies like Crooklyn (1994), Clockers (1995), Girl 6 (1996), and Get on the Bus (1996) were notable. He also featured in Love Jones (1997), Bulworth (1998), Out of Sight (1998), and numerous other movies. But his breakthrough came when he bagged the role of Preston Burke in Grey's Anatomy in 2005. However, he was dismissed after the third season due to a controversy over his usage of a homophobic slur.

He returned to grace the screens with his guest appearance in 2014. From 2014 to 2018, Washington then starred in The 100, a science fiction series on The CW. In 2020, he explored a new domain and became the host of a travel cooking show on Fox Nation and debuted as a director with Western film Corsicana in 2022. Outside of acting, he has made contributions in Sierra Leone, where he has built a school and donated medical supplies to a hospital. He was even granted a Sierra Leonean citizenship based on his DNA, making him the first African American to have such honor. He was named Gondobay Manga II to acknowledge his contributions.
