James Remar

William James Remar, known as James Remar, (born December 31, 1953) is a highly versatile American actor with numerous roles throughout a career spanning over 40 years. From performing as Ajax in The Warriors (1979), to displaying his talent as Albert Ganz in 48 Hrs. (1982) and Dutch Schultz in The Cotton Club (1984), Remar has found substantial success within the industry. From 2001-2004, he portrayed Richard Wright in Sex and the City, and from 2006-2013, he played the vital role of Harry Morgan, Dexter's father, in the acclaimed TV series Dexter. He also lent his voice for high-end Lexus car adverts from 2009 onwards.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Remar is a trained actor from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. This education undoubtedly served him well, with his recent roles including Frank Gordon in Gotham from 2016 to 2019, Peter Gambi in Black Lightning from 2018 to 2021, and Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson in Oppenheimer in 2023. His work ranges from stage roles, such as in the state production of Cross and Sword, to film debuts, like his role as Kenickie in a touring production of Grease. Remar also had a prominent role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (2012). He is also known for playing different characters in both film and TV series.
