John Christopher Reilly, born on May 24, 1965, is an American actor known for his work in both independent drama films and studio comedies. Reilly began his acting career in 1988, gaining recognition through various roles in movies such as Tony Scott's 'Days of Thunder' (1990), Paul Thomas Anderson's films like 'Hard Eight' (1996), 'Boogie Nights' (1997), 'Magnolia' (1999), as well as Martin Scorsese's 'Gangs of New York' (2002) and 'The Aviator' (2004). He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards for his role in 'Chicago' (2002). Some of his other notable films include 'The River Wild' (1994), 'The Thin Red Line' (1998), and 'The Hours' (2002).

Reilly also remarkable earned roles in comedy films. He played Cal Naughton in 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby' (2006), the title character in 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story' (2007), and Dale Doback in 'Step Brothers' (2008). His voice work includes the title character in the 'Wreck It Ralph' film series (2012–2018). Reilly has also worked in independent films like 'Cyrus', 'We Need to Talk About Kevin', and 'Carnage' (all in 2011), 'The Lobster' (2015), and 'The Sisters Brothers' (2018). Besides, he has shown his acting chops on television, creating and starring in Showtime comedy series 'Moonbase 8' (2020). His work on the HBO sports drama series 'Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty' (2022–2023) is also noteworthy.
