Maggie Q

Margaret Denise Quigley, professionally known as Maggie Q, is an American actress and model most famous for her stunning performances in blockbuster titles including Mission: Impossible III, Live Free or Die Hard, and the action-thriller series Nikita. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, she is of Vietnamese, Irish, and Polish descent with her father stationed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. She grew up with four siblings in a Catholic home and even attended church frequently. After high school, she left Hawaii hoping to earn enough money for university but her destiny led her somewhere else. At the tender age of 17, she stepped into the world of modeling in Tokyo but her breakthrough came when she met Jackie Chan in Hong Kong. He saw in her a potential action star and superintended her martial arts training. She began her acting career in 1998 and since then, she has built a worthy portfolio of roles, combining her acting talent with her martial arts skills to stand out in blockbuster films such as Divergent and on series like ABC/Netflix's Designated Survivor. Over a career spanning more than 20 years, Q has received much critical acclaim for her acting prowess across a variety of genres from action and thriller to political drama. She is a committed animal rights activist, has been involved in PETA Asia's campaigns, and adopted veganism as part of her commitment to a higher cause. Outside of her key roles on screen, Q's personal life involved being engaged to her Stalker co-star Dylan McDermott but the couple split in February 2019.
