Michael Kenneth Williams (born on November 22, 1966) was an acclaimed American actor who made a noticeable mark with his storied career in television and film. His rise to fame began with his distinguishing portrayal of Omar Little on HBO's The Wire (2002–2008) and Albert 'Chalky' White on HBO's Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014). Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Williams discovered his passion for acting at the National Black Theatre. Before his acting career, Williams was a dancer, performing alongside renowned artists such as George Michael and Madonna. His runaway success in acting started with his role alongside Tupac Shakur in the 1996 film Bullet which ultimately led to his featured role in The Wire in 2002.

Apart from his recognized TV roles, he also amassed a notable filmography, playing significant roles in films like Gone Baby Gone (2007), Inherent Vice (2014), and Motherless Brooklyn (2019).
