Molly Shannon

Molly Shannon, an American actress and comedian, was born on September 16, 1964. She's known for her role in the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, which she was part of from 1995 to 2001. In her career, she has effectively taken on a variety of roles in various movies such as Happiness (1998), A Night at the Roxbury (1998), Never Been Kissed (1999), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), and Wet Hot American Summer (2001) among others. Moreover, she reprised her character in the miniseries Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015) and its sequel Ten Years Later (2017). Some may recognize Molly's voice from the popular animated series Hotel Transylvania (2012-2022).

Shannon was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to an Irish-American Catholic family. Her life took a tragic turn at the age of four, when she lost her mother, younger sister, and a cousin to a car crash caused by her drunk driving father. Thankfully, she and her older sister survived the accident and were raised by an aunt while their father went through recovery. Shannon made her breakthrough in the entertainment industry when she got hired as a featured player on Saturday Night Live in 1995, replacing Janeane Garofalo. With time, she became renowned for her Mary Katherine Gallagher character in Superstar, an awkward Catholic school student who dreams of being a musical superstar. In her personal life, Molly married Fritz Chesnut in 2004, and they have two children together.
