What's After the Movie
Moses Ingram is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Jolene in the Netflix miniseries The Queen's Gambit (2020), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. She is also well-recognized for her role as Reva Sevander/the Third Sister in the Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022). Ingram was brought up in Baltimore, in a blended family of six children. Her fervor for acting was detected and nurtured early when at age 10, she was enrolled in an after-school theater program. She attended the Baltimore School for the Arts, graduating in 2012. She later attended Baltimore City Community College where she was advised to persist in acting and audition for local plays. In 2015, she stood fourth in a national competition facilitated by the National Society of Arts and Letters. With the encouragement from Jonathan Majors, the winner of that competition, she auditioned for the Yale School of Drama where she was accepted and enrolled in 2016. She subsequently changed her name to Moses, inspired by the biblical figure. In her final year at Yale, she received accolades for her performance as Viola in an Afrocentric version of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. She graduated with an MFA in 2019. Her breakthrough came when, within a month of her graduation, she landed the role of Jolene in The Queen's Gambit. Recognizing her talent, Variety named her one of ten actors to watch for in 2021. She was also a part of other impactful roles such as in Peter Hedges' ensemble drama The Same Storm, Michael Bay's Ambulance and Disney+ Star Wars spin-off miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi. She has upcoming roles in two Apple TV+ miniseries: Lady in the Lake, and The Big Cigar and in Joshua Oppenheimer's The End. As Moses' career continues to ascend, her given passion for the art of acting and her commitment to her craft pave the way for more dynamic roles.
