Penélope Cruz Sánchez, born 28 April 1974, is a highly acclaimed Spanish actress who has worked in both Spanish and English-language films. She has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Latin Grammy Award. At an early age of 16, she made her acting debut on television and soon started her film career with films like Jamón Jamón, Belle Époque, and Open Your Eyes among others. She is also known for her repeated collaborations with renowned Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. Cruz earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and has received multiple other Oscar-nominated roles. Some of her notable films include Vanilla Sky, Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and more. Cruz has also been a house ambassador for Chanel since 2018 and has engaged in philanthropic activities, such as volunteering in Uganda and India. She is the only Spanish actress to have won an Academy Award and to have been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
