Pierce Brendan Brosnan is an Irish-American actor and film producer, particularly known as the fifth actor to portray the character of James Bond in the renowned film series. Born on 16 May 1953 in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland, Brosnan's venture into professional acting started after he left school at the age of 16 and attended the London Drama Centre for three years. He rose to fame with the hit television series Remington Steele which ran from 1982 to 1987. Transitioning successfully to film, Brosnan gained international stardom as James Bond, with appearances in four films from 1995 to 2002. His post-Bond projects included a diverse range of films. In 2022, he appeared as Kent Nelson / Doctor Fate in the DC Extended Universe film Black Adam. Outside acting, Brosnan is recognized for his charitable work and environmental activism. He has received two Golden Globe Award nominations, for the miniseries Nancy Astor and for the film The Matador. In tandem with American film producer Beau St. Clair, he founded the Los Angeles-based production company Irish DreamTime in 1996. Brosnan was also commemorated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1997 for his significant contributions to the film industry.
