Toni Collette

**Toni Collette** (born Collett; 1 November 1972) is a renowned Australian actress. She is distinguished for her extensive work in both television and independent films and gained various recognition, including a Golden Globe Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and five AACTA Awards, with nominations for an Academy Award and a Tony Award. She established herself through the debut film 'Spotswood' in 1992 and later held her breakthrough role in the comedy-drama 'Muriel's Wedding' which brought her the AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Her performance in 'The Sixth Sense' led her to receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In her television career, she earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for 'United States of Tara'. Additional Emmy-nominated roles include the Netflix miniseries 'Unbelievable' and the Max miniseries 'The Staircase'. On top of acting, Collette has also ventured into music. She formed the band, Toni Collette & the Finish, where she served as the lead singer. All 11 tracks of their sole album, 'Beautiful Awkward Pictures' (2006) were written by her. Alongside her acting and music career, Collette has co-founded The film production company Vocab Films. Interestingly, Collette is the eldest of three children and was raised in the Sydney suburb of Glebe till the age of six and then in Blacktown, New South Wales. She pursued her ambition to perform in musicals, as she loved to sing and dance.
