Woody Harrelson

**Woodrow Tracy Harrelson**, born July 23, 1961, is an American comedian and actor. He first became known for his role in NBC sitcom Cheers as bartender Woody Boyd, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series from five nominations. Harrelson received three Academy Award nominations for his roles in The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Messenger, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Other notable work includes his performances in series like Frasier where he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, and films like No Country for Old Men and Zombieland. He also portrayed Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games film series. Apart from acting, Harrelson was nominated for several Primetime Emmy Awards for his roles in HBO films like Game Change, crime anthology series True Detective, and political limited series White House Plumbers, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. Born in Midland, Texas, Harrelson was raised in a Presbyterian household. He is known for his environmental and vegan activism, and he follows a raw vegan diet. He faced legal troubles and was arrested numerous times due to his strong views on the legalization of marijuana and hemp, as well as his anti-war protests against both the First Gulf War and 2003 Invasion of Iraq.
