Paul W.S. Anderson

Paul William Scott Anderson, an English film director, screenwriter, and producer, is best known for his foray into science fiction films and video game adaptations. His career kickstarted with the British independent film Shopping (1994), which paved the way for his breakthrough success with Mortal Kombat (1995). Anderson's claim to fame is the creation of the first-six live-action films of the Resident Evil film series (2002–2016), starring Milla Jovovich, who became his wife in 2009. His films, such as Event Horizon (1997), Alien vs. Predator (2004), Death Race (2008), and Pompeii (2014) have collectively grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Anderson, along with producer Jeremy Bolt, founded Impact Pictures in 1992, which has since produced most of Anderson's films.

Born in Wallsend, North Tyneside in England, Anderson started making films at the tender age of nine with a Super 8 film camera. As the youngest alumni of the University of Warwick, he graduated with a B.A. degree in film and literature. His professional career began with the British crime drama series El C.I.D.. Anderson has also been credited for inspiring films like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting by Danny Boyle through his film, Shopping.
