Jack Mosley, portrayed by Bruce Willis, is a jaded and troubled NYPD detective grappling with his own demons as he is given a critical assignment: transporting the fast-talking convict, Eddie Bunker, played by Mos Def, from his prison cell to a courthouse only 16 blocks away. As they make their way through the gritty urban landscape, Jack uncovers a shocking truth—Eddie is the key witness set to testify against corrupt members of the NYPD, including Jack’s own colleagues.
