Check out what happened in A Fall from Grace!

In the quaint town of Virginia, Jasmine Bryant (Bresha Webb), a dedicated public defender, finds herself entangled in a complex case that tests her convictions as an advocate for justice. Her personal life is also affected by the recent tragedy involving Jordan (Matthew Law), her husband, a police officer who's struggling to come to terms with the devastating consequences of his latest victim's fatal leap from a rooftop. The weight of this loss weighs heavily on Jordan, leaving Jasmine to navigate the challenges of her own profession.

As instructed by her boss, Rory (Tyler Perry), Jasmine takes on the case of Grace Waters (Crystal Fox), a woman accused of murdering her husband, Shannon DeLong (Mehcad Brooks). Initially, Grace insists she's guilty and will accept a plea deal if it means serving time in a nearby prison, close to her son Malcolm (Walter Fauntleroy). However, Jasmine becomes increasingly troubled by the intricacies of the case, including the fact that Shannon's body was never recovered. This lack of physical evidence only adds to the mystery surrounding his disappearance.

Rory is less than thrilled with Jasmine's decision to pursue the trial, citing budget constraints and the media frenzy surrounding the case. Despite these obstacles, Jasmine remains committed to uncovering the truth and advocating for her client's rights. Her investigation leads her to Sarah Miller (Phylicia Rashad), Grace's best friend, who reveals that Grace was feeling down after her divorce and was encouraged by Sarah to get out and meet new people. This led her to Shannon, whom she met at his art exhibition. The two began dating, with Shannon charming Grace with his words and wine. However, their marriage was marked by Shannon's gradual descent into cruelty and secrecy.

As Jasmine digs deeper, she discovers that Shannon had been embezzling money from Grace's bank accounts using her passwords and had even mortgaged her home without her knowledge or consent. The final straw came when Grace walked in on Shannon with another woman in their bed, leading to a violent confrontation in which she beat him repeatedly with a baseball bat and threw him down the stairs to their basement. Feeling enraged and betrayed, Grace then drove to the middle of nowhere to inform Sarah of what had transpired.

Sarah's account of the events adds an intriguing twist: she witnessed Malcolm leaving his mother's house after the incident, leading her to believe that he may have been involved in Shannon's disappearance. With this new information, Jasmine must re-examine the evidence and decide whether her client is truly guilty or if there's more to the story than initially meets the eye.

As Jasmine's desperate attempt to prove Grace's innocence falls flat at the trial, she's left reeling from the devastating verdict. The court's conclusion is all but sealed when Sarah takes the stand, revealing that Grace had confessed to killing Shannon - a revelation that not only implicates her client but also raises more questions than answers. Feeling defeated and helpless, Jasmine pays a visit to Sarah's residence, a seemingly innocuous abode for elderly women, where she stumbles upon Alice (Cicely Tyson), an enigmatic figure with secrets of her own. As Alice reveals the dark truth about the house - including the untimely demise of Shane Fieldman, a name that echoes ominously from earlier in the film - Jasmine is suddenly kidnapped and spirited away to the basement, where she discovers a disturbing array of elderly women held captive. Jordan's search for his wife leads him to Sarah's doorstep, but not before he uncovers her criminal past and learns that Shannon, far from being a victim, is actually her son. The ensuing chaos sees Jordan bursting into the house, struggling with Sarah, and eventually, Jasmine fighting for her freedom as the two women - mother and daughter - wreak havoc. In the midst of the mayhem, Shannon meets his demise, shot down in a tragic turn of events.

As the authorities rescue the captives, the true extent of Sarah's (Betty Mills) nefarious activities is revealed: she and her son Maurice have been perpetuating a 25-year scheme to swindle elderly women out of their life savings and pilfer their social security information. The revelation sends shockwaves through the courtroom as Jasmine seizes the opportunity to defend Grace once more, this time presenting compelling new evidence that exposes Betty and Maurice's modus operandi. The judge's ruling is swift and just: Grace is finally granted her freedom. Amidst the celebration, Rory praises Jasmine for unraveling the intricate web of deceit, while on the run from justice, Betty assumes a new identity, taking up residence in a nursing home as she plots her next move.
