As Malcolm Johnson navigates the treacherous waters of his relationships, he and his cousin Ray-Ray are compelled to confront the dire consequences that stem from Malcolm’s violent encounter with his possessed girlfriend, Kisha. This chaotic trio—Malcolm, Ray-Ray, and Kisha—find themselves on a journey that leads to a fateful collision when Ray-Ray succumbs to Kisha’s chilling breath, losing consciousness at the wheel. Fortunately, everyone survives, but it comes at a price, as both Malcolm and Ray-Ray abandon the unconscious Kisha, leaving her to grapple with her inner demons.

Fast forward a year, and Malcolm is entangled in a new family dynamic after moving in with his girlfriend Megan. This woman, burdened by insecurities and struggling with motherhood, becomes a pivotal figure in his life. Together, they form a blended family that includes Megan’s children: Becky, a rebellious teenager with a talent for trouble, and Wyatt, a sensitive young boy who finds solace in his imaginary friend, Tony—who embodies the quirks and traits of a stereotypical African American.

As they attempt to create a harmonious household, unexplained phenomena begin to plague their lives. The ominous presence of an unseen force becomes apparent when the movers inadvertently hang a safe near the yard, leading to an accident that tragically crushes Shiloh Jr., their cherished dog. Malcolm’s heartbreak as he lays his beloved pet to rest is palpable.

In a desperate quest to regain control, Megan decides to bring a strange doll, Abigail, into their bedroom—a choice that quickly captures Malcolm’s interest and affection. As he becomes consumed by this doll, he starts documenting bizarre events with his camera, further escalating tensions with Miguel, their mysterious neighbor, who often accuses him of racism whenever stereotypes arise.

As Malcolm investigates the unsettling occurrences around their new home, he stumbles upon cryptic videotapes featuring a demonic presence determined to wreak havoc upon unsuspecting families. As reality and nightmare begin to blur for Malcolm, he feels like a mere spectator to the chaos enveloping him, armed only with his camera.

The troubling atmosphere within the household intensifies as Becky grows more intrigued by an ancient box, while Wyatt’s bond with his imaginary friend remains steadfast. In hopes of deciphering the strange happenings, Malcolm consults Professor Wilde, a paranormal psychologist. Wilde uncovers a previous encounter Malcolm had with a menacing force he suspects is linked to Kisha. However, their discussion spirals into chaos when Wilde becomes ensnared in a web of illegal activities, culminating in his arrest.

As Malcolm grapples with Abigail’s malicious antics, which include bombarding him with grotesque images and setting his belongings on fire, their family dynamic teeters on the brink. When a peculiar box starts shifting on its own in the dark, Malcolm reacts with aggression, only to halt when Megan and the kids reveal it was intended as a surprise to make amends for Malcolm’s past mistakes.

Nestled within Becky’s discovery of the ancient box lies a surprise that unleashes a horde of moths, which Malcolm promptly eradicates using bug zappers. His paranoia escalates as he becomes convinced that the demon named Aghoul is mocking him through Abigail’s horrifying videos. Despite his attempts to communicate the absurdity of their situation to Megan and the children, they remain unconvinced. The tension escalates dramatically when Kisha appears to Megan, exposing a shocking truth that resonates with Malcolm: he had truly abandoned her.

To heighten the terror, upon returning home, Malcolm is confronted by unsettling messages scrawled on his walls from Abigail: “Miss me?” Undaunted, he tries to rid himself of her through various extreme methods—burial, sending her away, even barbecuing her—but the spirit of Aghoul continues to haunt him relentlessly.

In a last-ditch effort, Malcolm enlists the help of Ned and Noreen Swanson, an outlandishly eccentric paranormal investigation team, hoping they can unravel the mystery behind his family’s harrowing experiences. They conduct a ritual in his home, suggesting a dark force has latched onto them through the mysterious box, entangling Becky’s fixation, Wyatt’s imaginary friend, and Malcolm’s compelling attraction to Abigail. Their investigation is abruptly interrupted when they discover Becky possessed and writhing in a trance, prompting a desperate Malcolm to seek assistance from Father Doug Williams, only to find him overcome by his own demons leading to a tragic encounter.

As the chaos reaches its peak, Malcolm frantically chases after Becky, who has fled upstairs. With heavy reluctance, he persuades her to regurgitate a dark substance, allowing the demon to transfer itself to him. The Swansons arrive to seize Abigail and other cursed objects, ready to perform their next ritual.

Just when it seems peace could be restored, Malcolm and Megan are watching television when Kisha’s ghostly figure appears behind them, her twisted neck tragically taking Megan’s life. In a state of panic, Malcolm escapes, leaving behind devastation. The next day, Ray-Ray and his friends arrive at Malcolm’s home to find chaos: Megan lifeless, Becky gruesomely impaled, and Wyatt missing. Malcolm cowers in his basement, miraculously alive but paralyzed with fear as Kisha descends from above, her sinister presence casting a haunting shadow over the entire scene.
