Check out what happened in A Perfect Getaway!

As the sun-kissed landscape of Hawaii unfolded before them, newlyweds Cliff (Steve Zahn) and Cydney (Milla Jovovich) embarked on a tranquil honeymoon adventure, tracing the winding Kalalau trail to its picturesque dead-end beach. With Cliff's background in film school and screenwriting, he brought an artistic eye to their wilderness escapade, which Cydney documented with her keen eye for detail. Their serenity was briefly disrupted by the appearance of two hitchhikers, Kale and Cleo, who seemed as lost as they were intriguing. Despite Cliff's initial hesitation, Cleo's warm demeanor won him over, and she convinced Cydney to drop them off along the way.

However, their good deed was met with hostility when Kale demanded that Cleo leave the vehicle, his anger palpable. The couple continued on their journey, soon intersecting with Nick (Timothy Olyphant), a rugged solo hiker who proved himself a true hero by saving Cydney from a potentially disastrous misstep on a narrow ledge. As they walked together, they stumbled upon a group of shaken female hikers recounting the gruesome double murder of another newlywed couple in Honolulu - their bodies bearing the unsettling marks of teeth pulled out and fingertips removed.

Cydney and Cliff exchanged worried glances, weighing whether to turn back or press on with Nick, who revealed himself to be an Iraq War veteran with a titanium plate implanted in his skull as a result of shrapnel injuries. His claim that there were no nerve endings in the brain meant that brain injuries caused no pain - a chilling reminder of the horrors he'd witnessed.

As they approached the halfway point, Cliff's suspicions began to simmer regarding Cleo and Kale, whom they had earlier declined for a ride. He couldn't shake the feeling that these enigmatic travelers might be connected to the brutal murders plaguing the island. The tension was palpable as Nick's girlfriend, Gina (Kiele Sanchez), joined them on their trek, and Cliff found himself fixated on the possibility that their fates were inextricably linked with those of the murdered newlyweds.

As Cliff's anxiety reaches a fever pitch, he frantically checks their bags only to discover that his and Cydney's permits have vanished into thin air. With tensions simmering just below the surface, the group - comprising Cliff, Cydney, Nick, and Gina - sets off together, Nick's paranoia palpable as he becomes convinced that Kale and Cleo are hot on their heels. Meanwhile, Nick's unsettling behavior, a symptom of his troubled psyche, raises suspicions about his involvement in the gruesome murders plaguing the island.

As the group splits to continue their search, Cliff seizes an opportunity to get online and scrutinize images of the suspected killers. His findings only serve to fuel the fire: it appears that Nick and Gina are indeed the prime suspects. The air is thick with tension as Cliff and Nick part ways, each determined to track down Kale and Cleo.

A stroke of good fortune finds Cliff reunited with a guide they had met earlier in their journey, who kindly returns their permits and shares a crucial revelation: the true identities of the missing newlyweds. As Cliff and Nick regroup at the campsite, Nick proudly presents a freshly slaughtered goat, its fate sealed by Gina's unflappable expertise in the art of butchery.

The next day brings an unexpected turn of events as Kale and Cleo are apprehended by authorities, their possession of a container full of pulled teeth sparking a maelstrom of suspicion. With tensions at a boiling point, Cliff, Cydney, Nick, and Gina set their sights on the beach, where Nick and Cliff decide to embark on a kayaking adventure, exploring the mysteries of a marine cave.

Gina's casual perusal of photos on Cydney and Cliff's video camera, however, reveals a chilling truth: these self-proclaimed adventurers are not who they claim to be. Gina's horror is short-lived as she gives chase to Nick and Cliff, with Cydney hot on her heels. Flashbacks soon reveal the true nature of Cliff and Cydney's twisted relationship: a symbiotic bond between two sociopaths fueled by their insatiable addiction to drugs and an unquenchable thirst for immortality.

As events unfold, it becomes clear that "Cliff" - aka Rocky - has been manipulating the narrative all along, using his cunning to frame Kale and Cleo for the heinous crimes. In a stunning turn of events, Rocky shoots Nick as Gina arrives on the scene, only to narrowly miss her target. Cydney seizes the opportunity to strike at Gina, but our plucky heroine manages to fend off the attack, sending Cydney tumbling into the water below.

In the climactic moments that follow, Rocky's true nature is laid bare, and it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems in this twisted tale of murder, deception, and desperate desires for a hundred different lives.

As if fate were intervening, a serendipitous phone call from a phone company representative interrupts Gina's anxious state, prompting her to plead for police assistance. Meanwhile, Cydney's tranquil kayak ride is disrupted by the sudden appearance of Rocky, who emerges from the cliffside like a specter, seeking to claim her as his own. Desperate to escape, Gina seizes Cydney's knife and strikes Rocky's hand, fleeing the scene as he gives chase.

Simultaneously, Nick awakens from his ordeal, his titanium-plate-protected skull having saved him from certain doom. As Gina seeks refuge among a group of men scouring the beach for their stolen kayaks, she finds temporary solace in their assurances that she is safe. However, Rocky's insidious efforts to deceive them are foiled when an EMT among the group detects his telltale pupil dilation, leading him to mete out gruesome justice upon the would-be rescuers.

As Gina makes her way towards the shore, Nick materializes, embroiled in a fierce struggle with Rocky. The tide turns in Nick's favor, and just as the police arrive by helicopter, rifle trained on the combatants, Cydney's timely intercession sets the record straight: Rocky is the true culprit. With Cydney's confirmation, the authorities move to apprehend him, but Gina intervenes once more, saving Nick from a hail of bullets.

As the medical helicopter descends to whisk Nick and Gina away, he proposes marriage, confessing that the ring was purchased on eBay with a hint of whimsy. Overjoyed by his offer, she accepts, and they concur: "No honeymoon" will be necessary for this star-crossed pair.
