Check out what happened in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip!

As Alvin, Simon, and Theodore Seville, along with their Chipette counterparts Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor, settle into their new abode, they orchestrate a surprise birthday bash for Dave that doubles as a good luck party for the Chipettes, who are set to appear as guest judges on American Idol. The festivities attract an eclectic mix of guests and celebrities, much to Simon's dismay. Meanwhile, Dave agrees to take them mini-golfing, where they encounter Samantha, his girlfriend of several months, and her son Miles. While the Chipmunks warmly welcome Samantha, they're taken aback by Miles' aggressive behavior towards them.

As tensions rise, the trio discovers an engagement ring in a bag Dave brought home, leading them to believe he's planning to propose to Samantha. Horrified at the prospect of Miles becoming their stepbrother, they concoct a plan to steal the ring but ultimately come up short.

Dave is tasked with producing a record for rising pop sensation Ashley Grey in Miami and decides to bring Samantha along with him. The Chipmunks and Miles join forces, determined to sabotage the supposed marriage proposal. In a bid to throw Ms. Price, their neighbor, off their scent, they dress three squirrels up as stuffed animals.

Their journey takes them by plane, but Theodore's mischievous antics lead to an emergency landing in Austin, Texas, infuriating Air Marshal James Suggs, who has a personal vendetta against the Chipmunks. You see, he was once dumped by his girlfriend on Christmas for being their biggest fan – a fact that effectively ended his aspirations of becoming an FBI agent. As revenge, he puts them on the No-Fly List (except for Miles), much to their chagrin.

The Chipmunks take center stage at a bar, only to be caught by Suggs. Alvin initiates a brawl, allowing them to make a quick exit. They jump into a cab but are promptly ejected for lacking funds. Weary and resting against an ancient tree, Miles shares his painful past – having been abandoned by his father at a young age – causing the four to form an unlikely bond and reevaluate their relationships.

As they raise money busking, they earn enough to take a bus to New Orleans, where they perform in the city's iconic Mardi Gras parade. The spectacle draws Dave's attention as it broadcasts live on television, allowing the Chipmunks to exact revenge on Suggs, who becomes hopelessly intoxicated on moonshine.

As Dave (actor name) and Samantha arrive at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, they're met with a surprise package: Miles (actor name) and the Chipmunks, fresh from their escapades. The foursome is in for a stern lecture, as Dave's ire has been piqued by repeated attempts to reach them via phone or text. In a twist of fate, the Chipmunks' mischievous ways have earned them a spot on the No-Fly List, forcing Dave to take matters into his own hands and drive them to Miami.

Upon arrival, the group is treated to a shocking revelation: Alvin's pilfering of the ring from the container has effectively sabotaged Miles' proposal plans. The tension is palpable as Miles struggles to come to terms with the Chipmunks' seeming indifference towards him. His frustration boils over when he nearly becomes a human pancake on the Miami streets, but the quick-thinking Chipmunks spring into action, using Theodore as a human shield to save Miles from harm.

As dinner unfolds, Suggs reappears in their lives, only to find himself trapped in an elevator by the resourceful Chipmunks. This temporary setback provides ample opportunity for reflection and redemption. With the ring safely back in Dave's possession, the group extends an olive branch, offering Samantha and Miles a place within their family fold.

However, the celebratory atmosphere is short-lived, as Dave reveals the ring belongs to his friend Barry, who had intended to propose to Alice. The Chipmunks' actions have inadvertently foiled Barry's romantic overtures once more. In a final act of contrition, they take to the stage at the launch party, harmonizing with the Chipettes and Miles in an impromptu performance designed to soothe Dave's wounded pride.

As the dust settles, Barry reattempts his proposal to Alice, this time finding success as she says yes. With his heart now full of forgiveness, Dave officially adopts the Chipmunks as his sons. But, alas, his joy is short-lived, as he discovers the squirrels have left their mark on the house – a discovery that sparks outrage and dismay.

Meanwhile, Suggs, having been freed from his elevator confinement, seeks to unwind by the poolside. Unfortunately, his relaxing interlude is cut short when two burly security guards arrive to escort him off the premises, reminding him that he's not exactly a hotel guest.
