Check out what happened in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century!

As the celestial calendar ticked over from 1987 to 2491, NASA astronaut Captain William "Buck" Rogers' space shuttle Ranger 3 drifted through the vast expanse of space, its occupant frozen in a state of cryogenic slumber for an astonishing 504 years. The unexpected phenomenon that had befallen the ship remained a mystery until the year 2491, when the Draconian flagship, led by Princess Ardala and her trusted aide-de-camp Kane (a former native of Earth), stumbled upon the Ranger 3 while en route to a trade conference on Earth. As Rogers was revived from his long slumber, he found himself face-to-face with the princess, whose piercing gaze betrayed a deep attraction towards him. However, it was Kane who orchestrated Buck's return to his shuttle, setting him back on course for a destination that would forever alter the trajectory of his life.

But little did Buck know, the seemingly benevolent Draconians were secretly plotting a sinister scheme to conquer Earth through a series of staged pirate attacks on its shipping fleet. By planting a homing beacon aboard Buck's shuttle, they cleverly enabled themselves to breach the planet's defenses and pave the way for their invasion. As Rogers was escorted through the defense shield by Colonel Wilma Deering, he began to unravel the mysteries of his new reality: Earth had been reborn from the ashes of a nuclear holocaust that had ravaged the planet in his absence. The once-thriving world now lay in ruins, with New Chicago standing as a beacon of hope amidst the desolate wasteland that stretched beyond its borders.

As Buck navigated this unfamiliar terrain, he crossed paths with Dr. Elias Huer, the enigmatic leader of Earth's Defense Directorate, and the AI computer Dr. Theopolis, who were determined to help him adjust to his new surroundings. Additionally, he encountered Twiki, a resourceful robot drone who would become an unlikely ally in Buck's quest to unravel the truth behind the Draconians' true intentions. With his bearings slowly coming back into focus, Rogers found himself at the forefront of a battle that would pit humanity against the forces of extraterrestrial conquest, with the very fate of Earth hanging precariously in the balance.

As Buck recounts the enigmatic encounter with the Draconians, he becomes increasingly skeptical about the veracity of their claims, sensing that they may be hiding a more sinister agenda. Despite warnings from others, Buck's innate curiosity compels him to venture beyond the confines of the Inner City, seeking tangible evidence to corroborate or refute his suspicions. His odyssey takes him to the ruins of old Chicago, where he uncovers the grave of his parents and is subsequently forced to rely on Wilma and her troops for rescue from the treacherous mutants that inhabit the desolate landscape.

Upon Buck's return to the Inner City, a Draconian tracking device is discovered aboard his ship, leading authorities to accuse him of espionage and sentence him to death. Undeterred, Buck maintains that he was merely a pawn in the Draconians' game, and Wilma's intervention prompts Dr. Huer to arrange a meeting between Buck, Princess Ardala, and Kane on the Draconian flagship. Amidst the diplomatic reception, a diversionary attack by pirate ships (which turn out to be marauders) provides an opportunity for Buck to prove himself, as he single-handedly destroys the attacking vessels, earning Wilma's admiration.

Later that night, Ardala extends an invitation to Buck to join her on the Draconia, which he seizes as a chance to uncover the truth behind the Draconians' machinations. With Ardala under his influence, Buck explores the ship, discovering the marauders and the impending attack on Earth. Dr. Theopolis and Twiki, who had been tracking Buck's movements, eventually converge with him aboard the Draconia, sounding the alarm for Earth's defenses.

In response to the threat, Wilma mobilizes Earth's starfighters, launching a counterattack against the Draconia. Meanwhile, Buck sabotages the marauder fleet preparing to assault Earth and engages Tigerman, Ardala's formidable bodyguard, in a fierce battle. As the Draconia suffers critical damage, Buck, Dr. Theopolis, and Twiki are extracted from the fray by Wilma just as the ship is on the verge of destruction. Ardala and Kane manage to escape the impending doom aboard an emergency shuttle, with Kane vowing to exact his revenge on Buck in a future encounter.
