The narrative begins in Tibet during the tumultuous year of 1943, where a Tibetan monk discovers that he has fulfilled the destined prophecies surrounding him. He has bravely confronted an army of foes while a flock of cranes soared above him; he has fought for love within the majestic palace of Jade; he has saved brothers from a family he never knew existed, and ultimately, he has forsaken his name. Charged by his master with a monumental duty, he must protect a Scroll imbued with knowledge that grants unimaginable power, ensuring immortality and invulnerability until he must pass it on after 60 years. Tragically, just after this pivotal handover, his mentor meets a brutal end at the hands of German soldiers. Despite the Nazi commander’s anticipation, the now Nameless Monk manages to escape.

Fast forward 60 years, we encounter Kar (Seann William Scott), a young pickpocket who boldly swipes from a police officer in a bustling subway station. Following a chaotic escape that involves chaining the officer, he finds himself in a race against other officers. Amidst the commotion, the Nameless Monk notices a commotion on the streets and senses danger; in a swift move, he dives into the subway, colliding with Kar. This fateful encounter leads to the near-tragic moment when a young girl almost falls onto the tracks, but together, they manage a daring rescue, making their escape while leaving Kar’s stolen goods behind.

After their harrowing escape, the Nameless Monk and Kar introduce themselves, but soon Kar seizes the opportunity to pilfer the Scroll from the Nameless Monk, igniting a relentless chase. The Nameless Monk believes that Kar may possess the potential to be the rightful guardian of the Scroll. As Kar navigates the underground crime scene, he crosses paths with Jade, a captivating young woman, and develops romantic feelings for her.

Monitoring closely, the Nameless Monk observes Kar practicing Kung-Fu at home, inspired by martial arts films. Meanwhile, Jade attends an exhibit for the Human Rights Organization, where fate intertwines once again as Kar tries to return a necklace he previously ‘borrowed’ from her. Their budding romance is intercepted by a cohort of mercenaries who have come to hunt the Nameless Monk down. In a desperate bid for safety, the pair take refuge under the cover of an Asian laundromat, which unbeknownst to them, harbors monks from the Nameless Monk’s order.

As the story progresses, the Nameless Monk demonstrates advanced combat techniques to Kar, including an impressive display of bullet-dodging. However, their sanctuary is soon threatened when the Scroll is seized by a crime lord named Strucker, the very Nazi commander from Tibet who orchestrated the death of the Nameless Monk’s predecessor. No longer a mere relic, the Scroll’s contents ignite Strucker’s lust for domination, revealing a comedic twist when he discovers it contains an absurd recipe for noodle soup, while the true knowledge of power remains inked upon the Nameless Monk’s torso.

Upon their return, the distressing revelation strikes that Kar’s employer, Mr. Kojima, has met his demise at the hands of Strucker’s granddaughter, Nina. Betrayal lurks around every corner, as they face treachery from a monk seeking the Scroll’s power for himself. Subsequently, they are captured and taken to Strucker’s torture chamber, but refuse to yield.

Seeking a glimmer of hope, the Nameless Monk and Kar turn to Jade, only to learn she is the daughter of a formidable imprisoned Russian crime lord. Complications arise when Nina interrupts their meeting, leading to the capture of the Nameless Monk. In a twist of fate, Jade and Kar infiltrate Strucker’s hideout but are swiftly separated, leading to intense confrontations. Strucker, now rejuvenated thanks to the Scroll, seeks to extract its final secret stuck in the Nameless Monk’s memory.

In a gripping climactic showdown atop the building, Kar intervenes bravely, confronting Strucker, who meets his end in a shocking manner. As villains fall and alliances form, Jade manages to free the captive monks, alongside the Nameless Monk who transfers his mission to protect the Scroll, which will now also be shared with Kar and Jade.

The grand finale culminates in a circle of destiny, revealing that both Kar and Jade have successfully completed their prophetic tests, solidifying their connection. The aged Nameless Monk, bearing wisdom of the Scroll’s final line, meets with the duo one last time, proclaiming them inseparable. With a heart brimming with joy, he departs, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with love and adventure.
