Sameer Malhotra, portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan, is a dedicated nurse, while Kunal Chauhan, played by John Abraham, is a charming photographer. Both men are living the carefree bachelor life in Miami, with Sameer residing in a motel and searching for a new apartment. Kunal, on the other hand, is in a bit of a bind, as he must vacate his shared apartment with a friend within two weeks.

Their paths destinyfully converge at a friend’s party after a night filled with adventures with women. Fate takes another turn when they serendipitously bump into each other while hunting for rental properties. Ironically, they both fall for the same apartment, but the opportunity slips away as the owner, Mrs. Melwani, played by Sushmita Mukherjee, is unwilling to sublet it to them because it’s reserved for her niece, Neha Melwani, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra, who will occupy it solo.

To complicate matters, Mrs. Melwani is only interested in renting out the vacant rooms to women. Amidst this debacle, a U.S. soldier draws a humorous parallel between Sameer and Kunal’s bond and his relationship with his life partner, prompting Sameer to propose a scheme. He suggests that they pose as a couple to gain access to the apartment with Neha. Initially hesitant, Kunal eventually concedes, driven by necessity, and their ploy proves successful as Mrs. Melwani allows them to move in.

However, the complications begin when both men find themselves infatuated with Neha, turning into a delightful yet chaotic love triangle. They craft elaborate tales to embellish their backstory, with Sameer taking on the more emotional role while Kunal adopts a masculinity that doesn’t quite suit their deception. As they weave their fabric of lies deeper, Sameer confesses to Neha that he has yet to share his sexual orientation with his mother, who is stuck in London.

As their charade unfolds, Sameer and Kunal explore the idea of applying for a domestic partnership, a move to expedite Kunal’s citizenship process. Unbeknownst to them, this action stirs trouble as the approval letter finds its way to Sameer’s conservative mother, Rani, played by Kirron Kher, igniting her suspicions about her son’s identity.

The plot thickens when Neha’s boss, Murli ‘M’, played by Boman Irani, announces his resignation from his editor role, igniting a fierce competition for his position. Neha, in her bid to impress, invites M over for dinner, promising an introduction to her “gay and single” friends, fully unaware of the ruse previously concocted by Sameer and Kunal. Rani’s unexpected arrival from London brings chaos as she confronts Sameer, who desperately tries to deny the context of his relationship with Kunal, though the immigration agent present at their party reveals the truth.

The situation escalates when M discovers the deception regarding Sameer and Kunal’s relationship status, which leads to a fallout for Neha. Heartbroken, she returns home only to find support from Rani, who seeks to understand and accept her son’s identity better. As Neha progresses in her career under Abhimanyu Singh, played by Bobby Deol, the connections deepen, leading to a series of comedic and heartfelt moments.

As the love story dances forward, Sameer and Kunal strive to regain Neha’s trust and navigate the intricacies of their feelings. In a state of confusion and rivalry, they plot against Abhimanyu in a bid to win her affections back, leading to misadventures filled with heartfelt admissions and chaos.

In a poignant twist of fate, Neha realizes that her heart is tied to both friends, but when Abhimanyu proposes amid Veer’s insecurities regarding his father’s impending marriage to Neha, a chain reaction unfolds, leading to interruptions and the eventual end of her relationship with Abhimanyu.

Months later, as they gather their resident permits, the weight of their loss regarding Neha becomes apparent. They seek her out, only to confront the aftermath of their manipulations and the hurt caused. An eventful encounter at a fashion show reveals the depth of their emotions, leading to a heartfelt apology on stage, igniting the crowd’s support.

A spontaneous kiss between Kunal and Sameer seals their genuine friendship and reveals the true nature of their bond. Making amends, they encourage Abhimanyu to pursue Neha, leading to an eventual wedding celebration. As they reflect on their journey while relaxing on the apartment balcony, Neha’s question about their feelings during the charade adds a humorous twist to their friendship, leaving them with lingering memories and unresolved emotions as they share a moment alone, recalling their unique kiss.
