What is Michael's dream profession?

Plot Summary

As a recent college graduate, Michael finds himself stuck in a rut, forced to navigate the unglamorous world of public transportation as he drives the “drunk bus” for a party school in Ohio. His aspirations of becoming a photographer remain just out of reach, a constant reminder of his unrealized potential. Each night, Michael is tasked with ferrying rowdy students back to their dorms from the endless parties that seem to pulse through the town’s veins.

However, Michael’s life takes an unexpected turn when a violent incident on the bus prompts his boss to hire Pineapple, a towering figure adorned with Maori face tattoos and piercings, as his security detail. Initially intimidated by Pineapple’s imposing presence, Michael soon discovers that beneath the surface lies a kind and insightful individual who has seen his fair share of struggles. As they spend more time together, an unlikely friendship blossoms, and Pineapple’s words of wisdom prompt Michael to reevaluate his perspective on life.

Meanwhile, Michael is forced to confront the aftermath of a painful breakup with Amy, his ex-girlfriend, who returns to their college town from New York, adding complexity to his emotional journey. As he grapples with his lingering feelings for Amy and struggles to find his place in the world, Michael finds himself torn between his past and future. He must confront his desires head-on, making a critical choice: continue down the path of monotony or take a leap of faith and pursue his passion for writing, leaving the “drunk bus” and its dead-end job behind.
