Freaky Friday Quiz: Test your knowledge on the body-swapping adventures of Annabel and her mother in the 2003 film Freaky Friday.

What triggers the body swap between Annabel and her mother?

Plot Summary

As Friday dawns, Annabel Andrews finds herself in a surreal predicament: she wakes up to discover she has inexplicably swapped bodies with her mother. The feisty teenager, now inhabiting her mother’s form, is forced to navigate the complexities of adulthood as she struggles to comprehend the gravity of her situation.

With her brother Ben - affectionately dubbed “Ape Face” by Annabel - in tow, she must assume responsibility for managing the family’s affairs, a task that proves both daunting and humbling. As she grapples with the challenges of being an adult overnight, Annabel is struck by the weight of her mother’s responsibilities and begins to develop a newfound appreciation for the difficulties she had previously taken for granted.

As the day unfolds, Annabel’s series of mishaps and misadventures serve as a catalyst for personal growth. She discovers that Ben has an unrequited admiration for her, a revelation that fills her with a sense of responsibility and compassion. Moreover, she learns that her childhood friend Boris - now revealed to be Morris - is afflicted with chronic congestion, which causes him to pronounce the letters “m” and “n” as “b” and “d” when speaking to Annabel.

As the story hurtles towards its climax, Ben vanishes into thin air, leaving Annabel frantic with worry. Her concerns are compounded by the enigmatic disappearance of her mother - or rather, the mysterious beauty who has taken her place in the world. In a stunning twist, it is revealed that Mrs. Andrews herself was responsible for the body-swap, utilizing some unknown means to effect the change.

As Annabel’s situation becomes increasingly overwhelming, she is forced to confront the mysteries of her predicament and the prospect of being trapped in someone else’s life forever. Ultimately, she is restored to her own body, albeit with a newfound sense of empathy and understanding for the challenges her mother faced every day - and with a makeover courtesy of Mrs. Andrews that leaves her feeling like a million bucks.
