What is the profession of Paul Stanton?

Plot Summary

In the gripping thriller drama Inhale, District Attorney Paul Stanton (Dermot Mulroney) is a pillar of the community, respected for his unwavering dedication to justice. However, as he navigates the complexities of prosecuting a high-profile sex offender case, he’s forced to confront his own personal demons and the fragility of life.

Paul’s world is shattered when his wife Diane (Diane Kruger) and their daughter Chloe (Mia Stallard), diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease, are told that they’ve reached the end of the line in terms of medical treatment. The devastating news sparks a desperate quest for a solution, as Paul and Diane are confronted with the harsh reality that there may be no hope left.

In a last-ditch effort to save Chloe’s life, Dr. Rubin (Rosanna Arquette) reveals an unsettling truth: if they have the means, they can seek out a lung donor from a mysterious doctor in Tijuana, Mexico. This revelation sets Paul on a perilous journey, as he weighs the risks of breaking the law against the possibility of saving his daughter’s life.

As Paul delves deeper into this morally ambiguous world, he turns to his trusted friend James Harrison (Sam Shepard) for guidance. Harrison warns him that pursuing this course could come at a steep price: his reputation, career, and possibly even his life – as well as the life of his daughter. Undeterred, Paul and Diane decide to take the risk, crossing the border into Mexico’s underworld and encountering a web of corruption and deceit.

Their search leads them to Dr. Navarro (Vincent Perez), whose connection to an illegal organ harvesting operation sends shockwaves through Paul’s world. He finds himself torn between saving Chloe’s life and exposing the criminal activity that could save countless other children. As the stakes grow higher, Paul must confront the darkest aspects of human nature and make a choice that will have far-reaching consequences.
