What's After the Movie
Diane Kruger, German-born actress and model, first gained worldwide recognition early in her career and received the prestigious Trophée Chopard from the Cannes Film Festival. She gained fame for her roles as Helen in Troy (2004), Dr. Abigail Chase in National Treasure (2004), Bridget von Hammersmark in Quentin Tarantino's war film Inglourious Basterds (2009), and Gina in Unknown (2011). In 2013, she appeared as Detective Sonya Cross in the crime drama series The Bridge, and in 2017, she debuted in Fatih Akin's German language film In the Fade, which won her the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. During her modeling career she worked with top brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton, and also appeared on the cover of Vogue Paris and Marie Claire. Beside modeling and acting, Kruger is well-known as a polyglot, speaking English, German and French fluently.
Before hitting the spotlight, Diane Kruger aspired to be a ballerina and auditioned for the Royal Ballet School in London. Unfortunately, a knee injury curtailed her ballet career. Later, she moved to Paris, attended drama school and began a career in modeling, eventually transitioning into acting. Some of her acclaimed works include National Treasure and its 2007 sequel, Unknown (2011), the FX crime drama series The Bridge (2013–14), and In the Fade (2017), a German-language film. In 2019, she starred in the spy-thriller The Operative alongside Martin Freeman. She appeared in People's '50 Most Beautiful People in the World' 2004 issue, and also featured in Maxim's 'Hot 100' list twice, clinching No. 50 in 2005 and No. 88 in 2009.
