In the midst of their fast-paced New York lives, Leo (character) and Ellen are a quintessential power couple, with Leo's booming website business and Ellen's demanding career as an emergency surgeon keeping them perpetually entrenched in their respective worlds. Their eight-year-old daughter Jackie (Sophie Nyweide), meanwhile, finds solace in the nurturing presence of her Filipino nanny Gloria, who has become a constant fixture in their lives. Despite Ellen's best efforts to carve out quality time with her daughter, Jackie often prefers Gloria's company, sensing a deeper connection with the warm and caring caregiver.

Gloria, however, is not without her own personal struggles. With two young sons of her own back in the Philippines, living with their grandmother, she faces the daunting prospect of being separated from them once again. Her older son's attempts to find work and stay behind only serve as a stark reminder of his family's precarious situation, ultimately leading Gloria to make the difficult decision to quit her job and return home.

Meanwhile, Leo embarks on a solo journey to Thailand to finalize a crucial contract, but finds himself stuck in limbo when his colleague takes over the negotiations. With nothing but time on his hands, Leo is initially resistant to the advances of attractive local women, instead opting for a peculiar form of self-control by paying a prostitute to refrain from engaging with any clients that evening. Later, however, he succumbs to temptation and has a fleeting encounter with a local woman, only to regret his decision and task his colleague with accepting the contract terms, allowing them to wrap up their business and return home to New York.
