In the whimsical world of "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium", a mystical toy shop run by the enigmatic Mr. Edward Magorium (243 years young), amateur pianist and former child prodigy Molly Mahoney stumbles upon a newfound sense of purpose. As an employee alongside Bellini, the store's bookbuilder, and Eric Applebaum, a spirited youngster who serves as a youthful apprentice, Molly's creative juices begin to flow once more. Mr. Magorium, sensing his own mortality, bestows upon her the Congreve Cube, a humble block of wood imbued with mystical properties. He imparts to Molly that it will guide her towards a new path in life if she only believes.

As Mr. Magorium announces his intention to depart this mortal coil and bequeath the shop to Molly, he hires Henry Weston, a skeptical accountant tasked with unraveling the Emporium's mystical mysteries and determining Molly's legacy as its new proprietor. However, Henry remains unconvinced of the store's magical essence.

When Molly becomes overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility, the Emporium itself erupts in a tantrum-like frenzy, unleashing toys upon those within its walls. Mr. Magorium calms the chaos, and Molly realizes that her mentor is indeed on the precipice of death. In a desperate bid to change his mind, she rushes him to the hospital, where he eventually recovers and departs this world.

In the aftermath of Mr. Magorium's passing, Molly struggles to find her footing as the Emporium's new owner. She attempts to stave off her mentor's departure by reveling in the simple joys of life, but ultimately succumbs to despair, believing herself incapable of harnessing the shop's magical essence.

Undeterred, Henry Weston returns to draw up the sales papers, only to be awestruck by Molly's unwavering faith in the Congreve Cube. As she confesses her complete devotion to the Emporium, the cube itself takes flight around the store, leaving Henry stunned and bewildered. Upon awakening from his fainting spell, he discovers that Molly has manipulated the cube with her own convictions, leading him to a profound realization: that Molly can achieve anything if only she believes in herself.

As Molly's confidence grows, so too does the Emporium's magical aura, restoring it to its former glory.
