Jason Kent Bateman, born on January 14, 1969, is an acclaimed American actor and director known for his diverse roles and exceptional talent. He carved his niche with his poignant portrayals of Michael Bluth in Fox/Netflix sitcom Arrested Development (2003-2019) and Marty Byrde in the Netflix crime drama series Ozark (2017–2022). Bateman also co-hosts the popular podcast SmartLess with Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. Known for his comedy films, he is the proud recipient of numerous awards, including Golden Globe Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Bateman ventured into acting as a child, gaining popularity in the 1980s through NBC’s drama series Little House on the Prairie and The Hogan Family. His early film projects included Teen Wolf Too (1987) and Necessary Roughness (1991), followed by supportive roles in Dodgeball (2004), The Break-Up (2006), Juno (2007), Hancock (2008), and several others. Bateman made his directorial debut with The Hogan Family episode 'Educating Rita', setting the record as the youngest director in the Directors Guild of America. His direction in Ozark fetched him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2019. Since 2020, Bateman has co-hosted the comedy podcast SmartLess, creating a significant audience base.
