Thanksgiving Trials in Pieces of April: Test your knowledge about the heartfelt struggles and dynamics within a dysfunctional family during Thanksgiving.

Who is the eldest daughter in the film?

Plot Summary

In a poignant portrayal of a fractured family, April Burns (played by) navigates the complexities of her own dysfunctional household on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. As Thanksgiving approaches, April, the eldest daughter, invites her estranged parents, Jim and Joy (played by), along with her younger siblings, Beth and Timmy, to share a meal together. The occasion takes on added significance as Joy’s battle with breast cancer draws to a close.

As April’s family embarks on their arduous journey from suburbia to the city, they are beset by bickering and tension. Beth vociferously expresses her disdain for visiting April, while Joy is resigned to the prospect of an unenjoyable dinner. Jim, however, remains optimistic, and Timmy captures every moment on camera. The trio’s struggles are compounded by frequent stops necessitated by Joy’s illness.

Meanwhile, April (played by) prepares for the holiday feast in her small apartment, only to discover that her oven has malfunctioned. Undeterred, she seeks assistance from her neighbors, who respond with a mix of helpfulness and hindrance. Despite the challenges, April perseveres, ultimately completing the meal.

As Bobby (played by) departs to purchase a suit for the occasion, he finds himself confronted by April’s former boyfriend, Tyrone, leading to a violent altercation that leaves him battered and bruised. Upon arriving at April’s apartment building, her family is initially hesitant to exit their vehicle due to the stark reality of poverty that surrounds them.

However, it is only when Joy witnesses a poignant encounter between a mother and daughter in the diner’s restroom that she begins to reevaluate their decision. Joined by Timmy, they request the assistance of two passing motorcycle riders to return to April’s apartment. Having decided to share her Thanksgiving meal with those who aided her earlier, April’s heart is filled with warmth as her family finally arrives.

As Joy and April are reunited in a poignant emotional display, captured on camera by Timmy, the atmosphere shifts from tension to tenderness. The rest of April’s family soon follows, and together they join the residents of the building in sharing a meal that transcends their differences, forging a sense of community and gratitude in the face of adversity.
