Tequila Sunrise

In this gripping drama, Dale "Mac" McKussic (Mel Gibson), a former drug dealer trying to turn over a new leaf, finds himself caught between his loyalty to his childhood friend Nick Frescia (Kurt Russell) and the duty-bound Detective Lieutenant who's now tasked with bringing Mac back down. As Jo Ann and Mac's relationship blossoms, they share a passionate night at his house. However, their intimacy is short-lived as Jo Ann receives an urgent call from her restaurant, forcing her to leave. Nick arrives at the scene, cautioning her against returning to Mac's home that evening, citing Carlos's anticipated visit. Despite Nick's warning, Jo Ann returns to Mac's residence, only to discover that Escalante is, in reality, Carlos.

A tense standoff ensues as Carlos confiscates Nick's pistol and whisks Jo Ann away to his yacht at the marina. Carlos is aware of Gregg's role as an informer and seizes the opportunity to eliminate him, leaving his body near a shipment of contaminated cocaine. The gruesome discovery sparks a chain reaction, prompting Nick to meet with Mac and warn him about Jo Ann's precarious situation.

Mac refuses to abandon Jo Ann, threatening Carlos at gunpoint and securing her safe passage on a speedboat. However, he promises Carlos that they will conclude their business as planned, unaware of the treachery awaiting him. As Nick confronts Maguire, he reveals the shocking truth: Escalante is actually Carlos.

Nick arrives at the marina ahead of Mac, only to be met with a double-cross by Carlos. The ensuing fight between Mac and Carlos ends with a fatal gunshot wound to Carlos's abdomen, as they struggle over the pistol that had been turned against them.

As Maguire's ruthless streak comes into full view, he unleashes a hail of bullets, targeting Carlos first and then Mac as he tries to surrender with his hands raised high. The cacophony of gunfire has far-reaching consequences, setting ablaze the boat's fuel tank just as Mac makes a desperate bid for freedom by leaping into the water. Meanwhile, Nick arrives at the marina, his senses on high alert as he responds to the gunfire, drawing his own weapon and bellowing orders at Maguire to cease fire. But Maguire remains unyielding, prompting Nick to take decisive action and strike him down with a shot that leaves him wounded in the back. The inferno raging out of control ultimately culminates in a devastating explosion that reduces the boat to smoldering rubble, along with its illicit cargo of millions of dollars' worth of drugs.

As the dust settles on this chaotic scene, Nick requests a rendezvous with Jo Ann at the beach. She obliges, only to find Mac, his wounds healed by the waves as he sprinted towards her for an emotional reunion in the surf.
